  1. You only need 1 quart if you remove solenoid.
  2. It think most fluid from lines and rack must drain when sol. is removed.
  3. It has standard threads on it and you are at the right place. MIne had a indention like it might have already been removed once. It came loose with just a couple taps.
  4. Where do you bleed ps fluid from? Is there a fitting on the rack to bleed from?
  5. Have a 91 LS400 it also has clunk when i run over rough spots till i drive a few miles . I have replaced one control arm and that side does not have the noise. I think i read a service bulletin that there had been a bushing change or something on the control arm to eliminate the clunk.
  6. I have had mine at redline a couple time while passing. Engine sounds really sweet when it gets up in that range.

  8. Thanks guys for all the info. I never did figure out what was wrong, but this morning when i got in the car powersteering was back to normal. It may have been only air in the rack , i just thought air would have cleared in less than a week. Oh well its working fine now. Thanks Again
  9. I checked the ohms and it was about 15 ohms, checked the solenoid and it clicks when power is connected from battery but when i check the plug there is no voltage at all at the plug.
  10. I am finding no difference with the solenoid pluged up or unpluged. I checked for voltage in the plug and meter did not show any. Is there a fuse for the solenoid only. Is there a plug somewhere else that might have gotten unpluged?
  11. Yes is did use dex III. The cleaning made some difference but it is still not what it should be.
  12. The solenoid / filter is on the bottom of the steering box located right in front of the firewall. It is a very simple to remove. Just us a flat head screwdriver and hammer to loosen solenoid, there is not really room for a wrench. When you get it loose you can turn it with your hand. Just unscrew and remove. I used wd40 spray to clean the screen, then replaced .
  13. Just cleaned mine, it was almost totally blocked with black crud. I just used wd40 and sprayed it off. The screen is a really fine mesh and i was afraid to rub on it very much. The cleaning helped take some of the tightness outof the steering but it is still not as free as it was before i put the vacuum switch in the pump. Does anyone have any other suggestions.
  14. I jsut replaced my pressure switch yesterday. After refilling pump it now seems as if there is no power boost at all. Steering wheel is hard to turn unless i am at hwy speed. I wondered if there is a filter or screen also that might be stopped up .
  15. I just replaced my backlight bulbs on the climate control a couple of weeks ago. I paid less than a dollar per bulb. They are charging way too much at $6 a bulb. The bulb number is 2182. You should be able to find this at radio shack. If you can't their is a company called interlight that sells them mail order.
  16. you can pick up a new mast from irontoad.com for $38.
  17. Just replaced one on my ls 400 couple weeks back. Bought on line from irontoad.com for $301 and had it in three days. Alignment shop charged $40 to install and only took him 30 min.
  18. Just did my brakes a couple weeks ago. Used thick liquid both sides of each shim and about a week later i also started to get squeal at end of stop.
  19. Just made a 130 mile trip this afternoon. Drove 10 to 15 miles in town the rest hwy. and i averaged 24.2.
  20. I have only had my Ls400 for three weeks and just had mine changed last week. Mechanic said he had never seen one so frayed and that i had been running on borrowed time. Previous owner must have thought they didn't need to change it. They went 140,000 mile with no belt change.
  21. I had a set of bridgestones once and after some miles they developed more and more noise. I had to cross rotate every 5000 miles to keep the sound down. Tire shop said it was feathering.
  22. Pick it up this afternoon cost went up 250 more. Had to have some extra parts when he got inside. Still helps to have a small town certified mechanic.
  23. Mechanic said they will be oem parts. Had to order them from dealer.
