  1. My lexus dealer told me that my $465 bank one sensor needed to be replaced because I was putting in 87 gas. I am now putting in 89 and my knocking is gone. I have 80K miles now. About a year and a half ago, I had 02 sensor replaced (covered under dealer warranty). 99 RX 300 AWD
  2. I too feel like I'm burning thru more gas. I put 87. 99RXAWD bought new, now w/65k mi
  3. I understand your point SW03ES - but what about the huge discrepancy betw. radio vs CD?
  4. I've listened & listened - I don't hear it. 99RX300 AWD 63k in CT
  5. At 59k had to replace O2 sensor (Bank 1, etc, just as described above), covered under dealer/no charge warranty. 99RX300_AWD
  6. Hi, I just paid for new pads from dealer. Had 20% left on front, which was replaced; have 35% left on back - which I'm leaving alone for now. 62k out of them! Bought RX300 AWD new from dealer...
  7. bought 1sourceautowarranty for $1800 deluxe warranty (100k/5yr), for 99 RX300AWD. Never yet had to use it, car now has 62k miles in CT. So far so good, with the car. no major problems... Recommend getting the warranty. cheers
  8. I experience the same thing, during same weather conditions as described in 1st post. 99RX300 AWD, loaded :o
  9. For better price, go to Toyota dealership, for much cheaper $. that's what i started doing, unfortunately for me: only after a few years of already having paid $$$ at Lexus dealer. -99RX bought new
  10. I take mine to a Toyota dealer in CT. $25 or so for end to end service. includes car wash. Oil filter on RX = same as on V6 Camry.
  11. I've got the 99 RX. very disappointed that no arm rest. I have the special cupholder "armrest-area" doo-hickey, but no real arm rest; the kind you would get as if with the ES 300 or other models.
  12. Follow up to PharmGuy's comment ... {hi again} I've only been putting Citgo [cheapest gas in town] but do notice some difference if i put real high end {93} vs. what i usually now put {87}. The gas pedal almost goes down easier {less resistance} and the car feels more energetic {faster}. But not worth the extra $ for the 93. good luck. lexus_romeo
  13. I have 99 RX300, bought new from dealer. never had the problem. I usually play fairly loud, CD's and radio, and keep bass up to 5. No rattle. Does it still rattle w/bass turned to -5? good luck
  14. Pharmguy, Chas was my salesman - same w/you? Smart about requesting the 60k service when you bought it. That alone was worth about a thousand.. good luck
  15. Pharmguy, I bought / service my car from Hoffman Group in E.Htfd. I thought the sale went very smoothly--at least, I got a killing for my tradein :-) I bought the Rx after having been on a long waiting list, when it first came out. I put together a spreadsheet of all the CT dealer/service shops to compare prices for OLF + rotation. E.htfd definitely has the best price. Plus, I get the loaner for the day. Nice new loaded RX for a loaner - hey, that's gotta be worth at least $20 :-) Kudos to those guys. I do all my homework before taking it in for service, though. Soon coming up on my 60k wallet-buster / ballbreaker service, but I'm working on saving up for it.. Good luck
  16. this also happened on my tan-leather 99RX bought new in 00. dealer replaced seat cover. plus, i'd also developed a little tear in the seam... discoloration has happened, yet again. thanks SW03ES for the helpful tip - i'll try it. thanks
  17. Hard shifting while engine is cold, only in Very Cold mornings, is fine. I think even the manual says this. it's the engine's way of quickly warming itself up. if it stays like that, however, u've got a bigger problem. thanks
  18. I have 99 RX bought new from dealer - never had this issue thanks
  19. I bought a 100k warranty for diamond plan thru 1sourceautowarranty.com as soon as my 99 RX bought new from dealer, reached end of its dealer warranty. Strongly recommend shelling out the $1,800 or so. thanks
  20. I like what maruzo's suggesting. I dont think I would want to go so far as he says [personal opinion.] Maybe I dont take enough risks :-) I've got the 6disc Nakamichi, 99RX300. I wanted to know if anyone has an MP3 / radio transmitter, or something to that effect. thanks
  21. tmastres, i'm with ya there - probably the way i drive explains the problems i had. since then, I've also been religiously rotatin. Dont want to blow $115 on a tire x 4 next time. At least, not till I'm really due :-) I live in CT. We're having close to 0 degree weather now. Hey - wipe the grin off your face - I'm gettin my money's worth with $116 :-) bye
  22. All 4 tires weren't bald, but they were each showing signs of wear. I've got AWD 99 RX300, bought new in 00. Front 2 were showing lots of wear. Now they're looking ok. Been about 6 mths' since gotten all new tires. What do you think it could have been - your post implied that rotating wouldnt have been "the answer." thanks
  23. I thought at first I didnt really need to, so I didn't. Then all my tires balded :-( after about 3 years. So I put 4 new ones on. Now, every 5k miles, I do rotate + oil chg. for $116 w/loaner for the day. How am I doing? paying too much / or.. ? thanks
  24. Hi, read my post in the prior thread. I bought an extended warranty for $1800 a 1sourceautowarranty diamond plan, which will take care of me thru 100k miles/5 yrs. Just to be safe. I can't imagine having problems, but would recommend it. If you can afford this car, you can afford to pay a little for peace of mind insurance against costly repairs -- not because it's a bad car, but because parts/labour cost so much. I'd recommend against the extra rust/undercoat protection...not needed on this car.
