  1. It's definitely doable. the only question is how. I've done similar work on a mercedes and a bmw. The process is pretty much the same: determine the location for your new unit, open up the necessary panels along the way to lay in your wires, find wires that'll supply power to your unit, hook up everything and put back the panels. It's more of a challenge if you've never done it, but the more you try, the easier it gets. Of course, you can always get your local radio shop to do it for ya, shouldn't cost more than 50~100 bucks for the installation.
  2. Hi all! I have a 2003 RX300 with the standard 6 disc cd changer sound system. I'm thinking of adding a RF/ radio modulated MP3 changer so i can listen to mp3 songs easily. Does anyone has any experience opening up the console? Or knows where to look for 12V power feeds ? i'm thinking about bolting down the new changer right under the front passenger's glove compartment, but that space has a very sponge material that seems to act as a cushion for passenger's feets. I'm not sure if i'll be able to secure the changer at the location. Any suggestions are welcome. TIA! :)
  3. Don't use nero unless you're simply doing a disc to disc copy. If you want to transfer mp3 files into wave files and then burn onto black cdrs, i suggest using winamp to output the wave files first, then use nero to burn the wave files into a music cd. If you just click and drop the mp3 files into nero's program, you'll end up getting hickups and hesitations in your recording. as far as using cdrs in your changer, there's only an issue of playability depending on the brand of medias you choose. but nowadays, pretty much every brand of cdr media out there is made to be compatible on standard cd players, and that would include your lexus factory cd changer as well. btw, does anyone know how to burn songs from different music cds onto a single cdr?
  4. Does anyone know if this can be done? i know that the oem stereo faceplate on lexus rx300 is a custom size, and it is combined with the air conditioning functions. I'm just wondering if there's an aftermarket faceplate that replaces that whole assembly on the center console and leaves a standard pin size hole for an aftermarket radio. I'll bet the Japanese market will have something that like. Has anyone seen one yet?
  5. Hi Bill: Nice info on the oil change. I'm also thinking about doing it myself. I've got 10500 miles on my 2002 RX300 AWD and i'm due for a service. i'm thinking about using full synthetic oil, do you think that's a good idea? Btw, how many bottles of oil does this car need? and do you replace the oil pan bolt ring as well? Thanks in advance! mars BTW, what's the size on the filter cap?
