  1. How much did this cost overall?
  2. You can use a wire or paper clip (small one that doesn't have a plastic colored coating). I used both, but prefer the wire. I too have the dreaded CEL (Check Engine Light) along with the "TRAC/OFF" light. I traced the code to a Check Engine code of 71 (EGR Malfunction) and then tested the "TRAC/OFF" code (by placing the wire into the E1 and Tc holes as the manual suggests) and it came back with code 13 (Open in TRAC throttle relay circuit) and code 51 (problem in Engine Control System - which I think is the EGR gas temp. sensor circuit). Overall, although I would love to fix the issues, I need some help. Can anyone provide additional insight? Thanks!
  3. I can't help you with your specific inquiry, but try <<http://techinfo.toyota.com>>... best $10 I ever spent for repair information...chaeck it out and let me know!
  4. I found the answer by subscribing to techinfo.toyota.com (best 10.00 ever spent for a repair manual - hundreds of pdf's though). Here are the instructions: (Washer Motor and Tank) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION OF WASHER MOTOR AND TANK 1. REMOVE WASHER TANK AND WASHER MOTOR a. Remove fender liner. b. Disconnect connector and hose. c. Remove three nuts and tank. d. Separate tank and washer motor. 2. INSTALL WASHER TANK AND MOTOR For installation follow the removal procedure in reverse. Thanks for your efforts guys.
  5. For a 91 it's fairly easy: 1. REMOVE HEADREST (a) (Manual Type) While pushing the lock button, pull up the headrest to remove it. (B) (Electrical Type) Slide the headrest upward. © (Electrical Type) While pushing the supports, remove the headrest. Hope this helps since you have a 1st generation LS400.
  6. Does it still go off when you engage the seatbelt?
  7. I actually poured in a gallon of water to see if the leak was still present and it just comes out the bottom, so I'm not sure if it's the washer pump. Thanks again for your help! Anyone else have information on how to remove the washer tank?
  8. How'd you accomplish that without taking out the tank? Did you have to go through the front driver-side wheel wall? You didn't have to take off your front bumper, did you? I bought a plastic tank repair kit, but I'm unsure of the size of the hole in the tank. Any help would be beneficial. Please let me know and thanks again!
  9. Looking for help on removing, possibly replacing or repairing my windshield washer tank. Does anyone have any information on how to remove/repair? I lost my repair manual, so I'm lost.
  10. I bought the Lexus LS400 conversion Coil Strut kit for my 1991 Lexus from Arnott and there seems to be something wrong. we followed (my mechanic and I) the labeling and put them on as indicated. The car seems backwards. The backend is lower than the front end now. I'm disgusted! I don't know if they (Arnott) were labeled incorrectly but the rear end of the car is lower than the front end by at least 4 inches. Could the people may have put the wrong directions on each strut, i.e., the front mixed up with the rear. Anyone experience this with Arnotts Coil/Strut conversion for the LS400 (90-92)? :cries: :chairshot:
  11. Okay - let me know what the package costs and other data on how to order. I appreciate your help. Leximus
  12. Well, it turned out exactly what I thought it was and SK confirmed it. The torque on the bolt/nut was so off, it was ridiculous. I definitely plan on putting in a complaint to the shop. The back seat removal tutorial is also exactly what I needed. Thanks guys!!! Leximus
  13. Try this: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/body/rearseat.html Thanks! Precisely what I was looking for. For some reason, the past two times I went to this sight prior to you replying with the exact link, I was unable to find it and was getting somewhat frustrated. I downloaded the Car Repair Manual from TSI or whatever it's called and they don't go into this detail. Thanks again. Leximus
  14. That's what I thought. Do you know how to get the rear seat backing off? are there just bolts at the bottom of the backing and then the rest holding are hooks. I searched and searched but all posts contradict each other. I appreciate your help. PS - did you get my message regarding the emblems on the post started by MSlave? I was looking for the gold grille, gold grille emblem, and all gold emblems for the trunk to include the "V8" and the "LS400". I read that you could get them for MSlave with the center caps, however, I have 18" Chrome Rox wheels. Please let me know. Thanks, Leximus
  15. I just converted my air bags on my 91 LS400 to standard/conventional struts and every mechanic I asked recommended that I change all of them at the same time. Good luck.
  16. I recently converted my Air Bags on my 91 LS400 to conventional coil struts. I purchased these from Arnault. First of all, the rear seems allot lower than they should be with the wheel sitting just a half inch at times to an inch below the wheel walls in the rear and about four or five inches below the wheel wall in the front. It reminds me of my 93 Jag with the suspension issue. It looks like there's a bunch of junk in the trunk. Should this be? I thought at first that these struts for the LS400 were somewhat adjustable, but looking at them they weren't. The Struts had labels on them for which goes where. I'm somewhat dissatified at the looks of my car, although it rides great. It also seems to scrape at times when I pull into a not so steep but steep enough driveway. Hmmmm. Secondly, the rear passenger side seems to be making a knocking noise above where the strut is. I think it was accessed by taking out the rear seat backing (i'm not sure how to take this off to look at it either as my mechanic converted for me, so any help at all would be appreciated). Anyone ever have this knocking problem? It sounds like it's coming from inside the car. Could something be loose? I already assesed the trunk area to see if something was loose, first my stero equipment. Nothing. Each time I push down on the car in the rear end near the passenger side, that's where the knocking is. It sounds like it's inside the car when I'm inside, but when I push on it from the rear with the trunk open, it sounds like its coming from behind the right side of the fuel tank. Need Help in Connecticut! Leximus
  17. SK - I actually painted the entire grille and also the emblems on the back (I only have the "Lexus" and the "L") with gold spray paint and it looks terrific, but I would like to get the originals back on, pre-tarnished condition, to also include the "LS400" and the "V8". How much for the gold grille emblem? Could you also obtain a grille? The "L", the, "V8", the "Lexus" and the "LS400" on the trunk? Could you also obtain a grille? I don't need centercaps as my LS has 18" Rox Chrome Wheels.
  18. Thanks blake918, i feel better now...Can't wait until my LS is fixed.... :cries: then I'll look like this -
  19. Wish I had known that an hour ago. I just purchased the arnott ones. Could've saved 500. I appreciate your feedback...
  20. Which conversion kits are better. the one's at www.strutmasters.com or the ones at www.arnottindustries.com??? I have a 91 LS400 where all air bags are shot. Need help as soon as possible... Thanks!
  21. I'm convinced it's either a leak or the pump. Why would all four airbags just collapse at one time? I had called my mechanic to get some prices for new airbags. He was quoted 1k a piece. I don't think I'll be throwing that money into my car. Probably better off obtaining aftermarket struts to convert if the airbags are shot, if that's the final say. If not, Hopefully it's just the leak or the compressor/pump. Those two options would definitely be cheaper than installing new airbags or even converting.
  22. I may have miscommunicated previously. Now the entire suspension is low. Would that be the compressor or possibly still a leak in the system?
