  1. My 2010 RX450h does not have a switch. I ended up buying an ATEQ Quickset ($150) to reset the TPMS for winter/summer tires. The Lexus dealer wanted a one hour labor charge to do it.
  2. Have you tried stepping on the parking brake, which would activate the navigation screen?
  3. If my car weren't recalled, I wouldn't have to drive the 45 miles back and forth to the dealership. But that's not the only gas I had to use; the gas in the loaner represents another 45 miles, so the total number of gallons of gas consumed because Lexus had to fix their mistake amounts to almost 4 gallons or about $10. Of course, since I wanted to have the brake fluid flushed, I had to bring the RX there anyway, so the expenditure to get back and forth to work was only $5.00, but still......... If I recall correctly, the Lexus dealer fills your fuel tank to FULL after any recall work.
  4. The detailed DVD installation instructions for a RX330 and other Lexus vehicles are at the following website: http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/import/pdf/nav_install.pdf
  5. The following link has the TSB to perform whenever the battery is disconnected. As katzjamr said, it involves the ISC (idle speed control) learning. Some of the possible symptoms of not performing the ISC learning procedure include engine runs too long or more frequently than normal and reduced fuel economy. http://autozone.kiev.ua/files/Lexus%20400H/Battery/data.pdf
  6. Just a quick update on my problems, which now seem to be solved. I went back to the service department of my Lexus dealer and asked them for a road test with the foreman of the shop floor. When I arrived there and explained what I believe the problem was, the foreman said that he probably already knows what's wrong with the car and we even don't have to go for the road test. He asked if my battery was dead at some point in the past, and I confirmed it (I once left the interior light on over night, and the next day I couldn't start the car anymore and had to jumpstart it). So he said that the ECM was most likely the problem and he wanted to reset it so that it starts learning again. He also showed me a printout in which one item (I believe it was the ECM) was incomplete when I brought the car in, and complete after they fixed it. He also showed me a service document that listed some of the symptoms that I experienced, and the remedy for it (resetting of or relearning for the ECM). Since then my Lexus is performing well again, and the mileage is up to 28 to 29mpg from 21 to 22. I am very, very happy again with the car, and believe me, I was pretty upset before. I was really happy with the service this time, but I am pretty disappointed with my last 20k service where I had already complained about the same problems, and they told me that they read back the diagnostics and couldn't find anything wrong with the car. I wonder what diagnostics they checked this time. Also last time when I picked up the car after the service and got into the car in the pickup garage, a service reminder popped up on the center display informing that a service (don't remember which one) is due. That also made me think how thorough the service was performed in the first place, and how serious they had taken my complaint that the hybrid doesn't work properly anymore. Does any of you know if I always have to get the ECM reset if I drain my battery? If it has to be done, can it be done by the user or do I always have to take it to the Lexus service? Here is a link I found to the TSIB on the ISC Learning procedure: http://autozone.kiev.ua/files/Lexus%20400H/Battery/data.pdf
  7. Hmm, interesting choice. I read the spec's on the Blizzak LM-25 and like the fact that this tire, like most other winter tires available from other winter tire manufacturers, use a constant tread compound throughtout. The Blizzak DM-Z3's use the original concept 55% Link Multicell Compound while the remaining 45% features a standard winter tire compound. How many miles have you driven on them? Have you noticed any irregular tread wear? Does it feel like the weight of the vehicle and the undersizing (225 instead of 235 mm) of the contact patch, overwhelms the tire any? I know as a rule it is preferred to drop one size in width, and up one ratio in sidewall height, to give the same rolling diameter for winter tires, but I do find that the massive weight and the factory tire size chosen by Lexus to be too little. I wouldn't oversize the contact patch for winter, but I did for my summer tire and find the ride and handling much improved. Cheers, MadloR To answer your questions, I only drove about 2K miles on the Blizzak LM-25's last winter and the wear seems to be negligible. The tires seem to handle nearly as well as the OEM Michelins, in spite of the smaller footprint. The LM-25 is considered to be a performance winter tire (H rated) and had a high rating from Consumer Reports last year.
  8. We are getting less mileage with cooler temps (40s - 60s) - the engine runs more to keep at operating temp - premium has consistently added 1.8 to 2.6 miles per gallon - we have 24,000 miles on our RX400 and have averaged a true 24.3 mpg - we use middle grade as a compromise for fuel unless heading up into the mountains. My wife drags our overall (15,500miles) mpg down to 26.0 using regular. Ours is AWD. Part of this is from Montana winter driving too. Mostly though it's So. Cal driving. When I was the primary / solo driver I could regularly get 30mpg ... using pulse driving I learned with the prius. My wife though, opts for the cheep gas. I'll see if I can get her to consistently use primium and see if that makes a difference. what do you mean by "pulse" driving? Pulse and glide driving is where you accelerate past your desired speed then coast down to below your desired speed and repeat this technique to maximize your fuel ecomny. The following link has more info: http://www.metrompg.com/posts/pulse-and-glide.htm
  9. I use Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 in size 225/60HR18 on factory OEM wheels.

  14. Try reading a little up above in this thread. Here is another source for for radio removal instructions with photos for the RX330 http://carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalLexusRX330Str.htm
  15. The 2006 RX330 has added a coin holder in the center console as one of the minor changes for this year. Perhaps it can be retrofitted to the earlier RX models.
