My question was more about the computer technology. Bolt patterns are the same and the wheels will fit fine so no issue there. Since the standard grade RX350 does come with 18 inch wheels but the fancier grades step up to 20 inch I wondered if they have to make some internal computer settings changes to accommodate the bigger wheels on the upgraded models. I suspect if there are settings that need to be changed those would be done at the dealer through the ECU connection.

The RX350 is my wife's car and now that she is retired I plan to keep it parked in the garage all winter except on the nicest of days. She will be Grounded when the roads are crappy or she can drive my 4Runner. The Lexus has to last us lots of years. I will probably sell the wheels and tires when winter gets a bit closer here.

Thanks Dave for all your research. My 18" wheels have very nice Blizzak tires but the size is 235/60/18, 29.10.

I am not sure I did this correctly or what these numbers actually mean. The best I have found is Yes, my 2015 18" wheels will fit on the 2021 RX. 3 different size tires are listed. 235/60R/18 =29.10 235/65R/18 =30.03 235/55R/20 =30.18 I suspect with nearly an inch of difference it could throw my speedometer off a little but when I do swap I should be able to match what the speedo says against what the GPS is reading and adjust my driving speed accordingly. Whether or not this might mess with any of the onboard computer systems is another unknown. On our 600 mile trip we averaged 25 miles per gallon and I used the Radar Controlled Cruise most of the trip. At first I did not like it much but once I fully understood how it functions it was helpful to a degree. It just felt weird at first when I had the cruise set at 70 MPH but if there was a car in front of us going a little slower it kept us back a safe distance and adjusted our speed until I would pull out to pass.

Thanks Les, think you have missed my question specs. My older 2015 RX wheels are an original stock 18" set with just winter Blizzak tires. I think but can't be sure some lesser models of the 2021 RX350s come with 18" wheels but the upgrades are either 19 or 20". Our 2021 came with the upgraded Michelin LTX 235/55R20 wheels and tires you have. If the 18 inch wheels will fit, which is my question, the only other parameter will be if my 18" tires are the same height as the 20" tires we both have. I am not sure but I think the size 235 is the sidewall height and the 55R is the width of the tire. 235 in an 20" wheel and tire could be about the same height and circumference as 265 in an 18".

I thought the same with my 2016 4Runner when I swapped to 17 inch wheels and tires for winter from the original 20 inch wheels and tires. It turned out to be fine since the 17 inch tires were the same height and circumference as the stock 20 inch ones so it made no difference. I am not yet ready to swap to winter treads on the new RX but when the time comes I will have to make 2 important inspections. Will the smaller wheels clear the brake calipers and is there a big difference in the actual height/circumference of the tires that could throw off my speedometer calibration. All these wheels have the correct TPMS sensors installed so no issue there.

My 2015 RX350 had 18 inch wheels and I bought a second set of the original OEM wheels with TPMS sensors and used them with Blizzak winter tires. I traded the 2015 for a new 2021 RX350 that has 20 inch wheels but I still have the 18 inch winter set with lots of tread left. Will the 2015 18 inch wheels fit the 2021? I suspect the bolt pattern remains the same but my concern is have they increased the caliper size for 2021 that would cause a clearance issue?

Some have mentioned there could be a gel filled pad in the seat cushion but I can't confirm this. If there is in fact a gel pad then it is very possible the shape of your rear is what is causing this uncomfortable egg you feel. I once bought a seat pad from Temperpedic for my office chair. It felt great when I sat on it but after just a few minutes the foam would press down and redistribute into the middle between both of my cheek bones and cause a lump in between. When I got up I could see a well defined lump in the middle, causing what I call a "Wedgie" and 2 indents where my rear end bones pressed the foam flat pushing it toward the middle. I absolutely hated that cushion and gave it away. We are now close to 2,000 miles on our RX350 and have not noticed any such problem as you describe so far but only my wife has taken a long 400 mile drive to visit family with no comfort complaints. Toward the end of this month I will be driving 10 hours straight and will have a better assessment when I get home.

IMO Toyota Navigation systems are useless. The system in my 2016 4Runner Limited wants to send me around the block to get across the street. I instead use a Garmin Nuvi with lifetime map updates. We have not yet tried using the nav in our new RX350 but I will say the larger display screen is great. One would think that with our smartphones having up to the minute updates and our stand alone GPS gadgets all having free updating the auto manufacturers would make the map updates cheap and easy. Something as simple as an inexpensive USB jump stick with the updates simple to upload. When searching for the new RX one option that was not on our Must Have list was navigation. The RX we settled on did have it so it is there but still the Garmin is easier to use and has never taken us off the beaten trail.

My wife drives the Lex RX350 and I drive a 2016 4Runner Limited that I do love but I will always wished I bought the Tundra instead, just love a nice pickup for the play stuff I do. Love my Dual Sport motorcycles too but getting too old now to even enjoy them. Custom built Suzuki DR 350 made into a Big Wheel so it would be street legal.

I live on 120 acres and am the property manager overseeing 5 homes and the woods for a fellow who lives out in California. He is as green minded as they come and I am happy he does his voting on the left coast. I have to do some reading on the difference between Hybrid and other electric battery powered vehicles before I can accurately assess the values they might have here. I am in the NY Catskills mountain area and more like the frozen NE. Most of my driving is on secondary country roads with relatively short hops to and from town as I am retired and don't actually need to go anywhere but for groceries and supplies. I fish and hunt and for the last 15 years I might only put 8K miles on either of my vehicles.

That's probably not necessary Lex. Our 2021 came standard with 18" wheels and tires but with the fancy upgrades we ended up buying it has the 20" fancier wheels. My 4Runner Limited also came with 20" wheels but the winter set I bought are 17" and I just had to make sure the smaller wheels cleared the brakes. If I stand the 17s along side of the 20s they are the same height and circumference which I think is all in the tire sidewalls. My question goes more to if they changed anything like bolt patterns or larger disc brakes from 2015 to 2021 models.

I think besides the basic fluid checks at the 5K service, no oil & filter change is done, the most important thing they do is rotate the tires. I would just do my own pre trip check of fluids just to be sure all are up to snuff and go on my trip. The wheel rotation serves two purposes, tire wear and lug nut torque. It would be nice to think the dealer service does in fact use the specified torque guidelines but I honestly doubt they take the time to actually get all the nuts within the spec and probably just use a air hammer to make sure they are all tight. When I got home with our new RX I immediately installs McGuard wheel lug nut locks, one on each wheel. While removing the existing lug nuts I did notice that two of them were rather tight and I had to use a breaker bar to get them lose while the other two were very easy to loosen and remove. That tells me from the factory they had no regard for their own torque specs.

GG, I just snapped a picture of the drivers seat in our 2021 RX. There is no noticeable hump on any of our seats. If your seats do show a hump can you post a photo of the drivers seat so we can see it? I do not feel any discomfort nor does my wife when we sit in either the driver or passenger seats.

I have Hawks, Owls and other Raptor birds that hunt my property and make a good living on the mouse population. No way I would lay out any type of poison. I do have regular traps set inside the garage with peanut butter that works great.

I do share your thoughts on attacking the mice at the source but living here on 120 acres of woods and fields with mice in every one of the outbuildings and all over the fields you are barking at the moon thinking I could ever get rid of them. Sealing off the interior of the garage has helped a lot with finding all the access points where they could get in. Prior to my doing the sealing I had been catching a few mice each week inside the garage and now I might get one every month. They do come in when the garage door is left open and immediately begin setting up house. Why they tend to seek refuge inside of the car is a mystery and knowing where they find a path into the interior of the glove compartment is most valuable. This is IMO a design flaw that I might be able to take care of with a small screen over the correct opening.

Nice picture Les and I suspect you are pointing to the left side of the pin where the hole is. If so then could I glue in a piece of screen to keep the critters out. We just replaced our 2015 RX350 with a new 2021 and the very last thing I want is more mice inside.

My younger brother was a salesman at the local Ford dealer and switched to the Toyota dealership. We switched with him from Ford pickups to Toyota and from the Explorer to a Rav4 for my wife's daily 30 miles commute. I loved my Tacoma and she was very satisfied with the 3 Rav4s she leased while she was still working. Living in the NE rust belt and her driving in all different weather and road conditions made leasing a good option every three years/36K miles and put her in nice new SUVs with AWD. When she finally retired and wanted a new and nicer riding SUV my brother pointed us at the higher end of Toyota and sold us a nice 2015 Lexus RX350 that was one year old with 15K. She fell in love with her RX and now when it came time to replace it we did the standard shopping and looked at the higher end Rav4s and Highlanders but we also looked at the new 2021 RX350. It was honestly a no brainer after driving the different models and the new Lex came home with us. We also did look at the Honda and Subaru comparable models but Toyota/Lexus won the day. I now drive a 4Runner limited as does my brother.

I am having a difficult time wrapping my head around any All Electric cars. I get the feeling we are being duped into the belief that electricity is a cleaner and cheaper source of energy. I do of course get the concept but I also must look at the entire picture of where and how electricity is produced, transported and stored which brings us to the actual cost. IMO solar is a wonderful source but not yet up to the full time task where geographical and weather conditions come into play. Wind is also wonderful however when we consider all the costs to build from scratch, erect and maintain windmills it becomes just as costly or more costly than the fossil fuels required to build them. I am no expert here but I have read numerous accounts stating that windmills so far cannot produce enough energy to cover the return of investment over their lifetime. Both sources have their advantages and disadvantages, cleaner in some ways but often more costly when we look at the total picture of initial cost Vs return. An All Electric vehicle will not work here where I live with the high cost of electricity from the power company to my home. Replacing batteries in such vehicles is another daunting thought when they have reached their life expectancy. I think we seem to forget that all manufactured goods, no matter what, cars, computers, gadgets and just about everything else all begin in the ground and must be mined, transported, milled and smelted and this all takes fossil fuels and electricity at every step. Folks here are highly against windmills, solar farms, pipelines, electric transmission lines, cellular towers, and nuclear power generation plants. The complain about the rivers being dammed for Hydro power generation and in the very same breath they complain about high costs of energy, lack of cell service and internet connectivity for all their gadgets. I get the feeling those who are narrow minded expect all this stuff to simply fall from the sky. I have a continual and ongoing debate with a buddy who is an absolute climate activist, the type who thinks cows should be eliminated and all energy should be from renewable sources while he does drive a Prius he also wants milk in his coffee, Leather seats in his cars and SUVs and steak on his table. All electric vehicles are for sure coming along but they are a long way from refined enough to have one parked and plugged up in my driveway. I believe about 75% of all electricity is produced by fossil fuels at present and we have a long way to go for us to rely on other sources before we leave the oil, coal and gas in the ground.

I think knowing the car history is as important as anything when buying a used vehicle. Your car might not have come from the rust belt states but it sure could have come from an area that flooded or near the ocean salt. A buddy just bought a very nice used SUV that is a sweet ride but while doing a full detail and wax job he stood on a ladder and saw numerous dimple dents on the roof. He did a Carfax report on the car only to learn the car when new and on the dealer lot went through a severe hail storm and had numerous Paintless dent repairs done but they did not do the rooftop. I guess not many of us ever inspect a car that close that we would stand on a ladder to see the rooftop. Likewise not many of us would ever get on the ground to inspect the underside for premature rusting. We just traded in our 2015 RX and it has 6-7 years of NY mountain winters all over the underside. It looks great from above but my mechanic who replaced the front calipers, rotors and pads showed me the bad news while it was on the lift. It only had 69K on the clock but there is sure to be some issues in the near future. My 2016 4runner limited is beginning to show some hard winters under it as well. Around here the blacktop roads are almost white in the winters from salt and calcium chloride they treat the roads with before and during storms. Some local counties still use a mix of sand and salt and I hate driving through those towns and can't get to a car wash soon enough after I do.

We like having vent visors so we can drive in rain with the windows slightly cracked open. Our 2015 RX had them but they were the In Channel type that did cause some issues with running the window up and being too tight so the auto stop would run the window back down. I prefer the stick on the outside type that do not slide in between the glass at all but cannot find any company that makes this type for the 21 model. Newbi question, what model years of the RX350 are the same as the 2021? I assume it should be 2016 and newer but I am not sure of this. Living in the frozen north I also like to install mud flaps front and rear but have not yet seen any company making them for the 21 year model yet. One other question, Should our RX have come with a Cargo Net and if yes could it be hiding somewhere?

You said that all the seats in your RX have the same feel to your bottom. We just bought a new 21 RX350 and after reading your post I had to go see if I could feel what you feel. Actually our seats are quite comfortable and I do not feel any sort of divider at all. Not attempting to make a joke here but is it possible your seats were made on a Friday or Tuesday after a long weekend? I suspect there are humans in a factory putting the seats together and it might be possible you just got poorly cushioned seats. Have you gone to a dealer and sat in other 2021 seats to see if they all feel the same to you? Our seats are leather and vented for both heat and cooling if that makes any difference. We have not yet tried the heat function but the cooling seems to work quite well for the seat back and not so great for the bottom. I can place my hand on the bottom between my legs and I do feel the cooling but not so much under my rear and legs covering the vent holes. If I lean forward away from the seat back I can feel and hear the blower going.
