  1. the current mpg readout is PERFECTLY usefull..it will let oyu know when you are depressing the accel pedal TOO MUCH.... I use it a lot more than my average... it will let me know exactly MY bad driving habbits... sometimes you can push the accelerator pedal 20% and have the same speed as if you have it at 10% no acceleration or extremely minor... but 10% is a lot less load and you get more mileage out of your engine.
  2. that was after checking both service manuals for pin outs.. i guess i will get that bcm this week and try it out :D... the questions is if it will drive the scantools crazy or something.... it should be pretty interesting.. in worse case scenarion one wuold have to replace both bcm and ecu.
  3. pinouts for a bcm are identical from 98 to 2000 i guess i will try out... i couldn't find any part numbers for both of these units, but im guessing that due to the difference in programming they will be different... same pin outs and voltages means they might be interchangeable... so i guess its a worthwhile try out and see :D
  4. i really doubt there is much more difference than software integration between the 2 years. TOo much cost associated and at this point they want to revenue. the easiest implementation is software. I guess the only way is to try it out and see if any codes persists.. there are no hardware changes from what i can see to the 99s.
  5. for a gen 1 no. gen 1s can be close to 200k miles before needing a belt change.... Have it in mind but its not a top priority... if it does break... its a non intrusive engine... it will not break the negine...
  6. I think you would have to interchange the WHOLE suspension in order to do it. I think it has been done.... not sure... but they 4 pot calipers will not fit your suspension.. that i know. Have one myself.
  7. who cares if he has it or not? this is an ls forums.. which means the cars are up for comparison.... while i like the raw power of it.... (my z06 has 482rwhp and my camaro has put down 607rwhp) i find it that you can't have all your cars be race cars and mercedes has been known to have HUGE reliability problems. Lexus will not make a tuner car if it costs down on reliability, name and what not. Mercedes may take the risk, but.... they are slowly loosing market because of it... Lexus has gained a lot of market.. A lot of that market has been LOST with the new ls430. Because like myself, many people around here DO NOT LIKE the looks... Still..i would pick any ls over any mercedes. I tend to "marry" cars... but its just my opinion.... Honestly. you want power and reliability get an american engine... which you can find parts almost on any drugstore, still have a big !Removed! engine, rumble and pure power.
  8. basically... what i want to know is what stores the c-best functions. The body control module? if i where to switch a body control module would i get the additional c-best settings? in essence its the same car so conversion can be done some way or the other.
  9. by changing the body control module of a 99 and/or changing the mirror control module to change the driver side mirror settings? thanks
  10. it looks like a caddy.. jaja.. nice thing with the leg seating for the rear passanger.
  11. it can and it will.... one thing though... now thinking about it.. that picture could have been a dyno. the car will reach those speeds.
  12. i think i am pretty well versed but if that is your oppinion... its respected.... what i meant it was my first LSx based engine... I tune this engines locally so i know them pretty well... having owned 4 toyota v8s and 4 gm v8s i think i can choose which ones i like the best and i have my reasons for it... if you don't agree with me... perfect... but facts are facts and can be written down.
  13. would this work for the ls400?
  14. the problem is over 80mph... i feel the car doesn't pull as it should... hitting 100mph in 3rd is supposed to be way awesome as the 95 goes 80 in second and 135 in 3rd... so multiplication is a lot better and 30hp more... i will check.... i will post some data back to back with each.
  15. try and see the rack and pinion terminals... if they are worn out they will surely make that noise... or if they are not tight enough...
  16. nope no it isn't. all im saying is speed attained in the same space as previous tests done with the 95.
  17. yes.... i know... there is a 13mph difference more or less on what i expected.... i could be measuring it incorrectly or soemthing.. maybe i have clogged cats which doesn't look like it... the car runs strong, but so did the other one and i expected this one to run a lot stronger.. today i installed an oem toyota air filter and last night iridium plugs... so we will see... i did notice the inside of the intake manifold (after the throttle body) was very very dirty black... means this cars have a lot of reversion or something... i will try and clean it via engine on methods or remove it and clean it up. we will see... i need to measure up a more or less 60-100mph time to compare... my old car did via stopwatch 9.6s... and its just an estimate... but both estimates can be used to compare.... i would expect this ls to do around 9.2 or so... in the end.. the specs dont lie 6.4 vs 7.1 ( i do notice out of the hole the 98 is way faster) with a 1/4 mile times of 14.8 vs 15.1 (not that much difference, which means the 95 is catching up).
  18. Can I say that you're a tool? For one, the Z06 doesn't come with an LS1. Z06 Vettes have LS6 motors. And yes...I had an 04 Z06. Two...if you thought it was going to be a gas guzzler, you must not know how to read the sticker on the car. It clearly states something like 18city/28hwy. If you bought them used, then you're an idiot still for not researching the car. Three...you're talking about getting great gas mileage in cars that have manual transmissions, right? 6th gear on those Camaros and Vettes are the gas gears and, yes...they get great mileage. LS are automatics and they still get great gas mileage on the highway. My 91 gets 25-26. My 98 did 27 round trip LA-Vegas @75-80mph. To even compare a luxury barge to very low geared manual transmission cars...:chairshot: You want real world proof/knowledge of these engines? I have no problems with the Lexus motors whatsoever. My Z06 was lemon lawed this past year. Why? Piece of *BLEEP* LS6 motor. That's probably not a fair statement. Piece of *BLEEP* company that assembled the LS6 motor and caused it to fall apart every month. That sound fair to you Mr. LS1 motors are the greatest? ← well.... i feel that the ls400 95 (which i bought new) has given me more mechanical problems than what the camaro gave me in its 56k miles stock. sure the lt1 broke.... after adding 200rwhp to a stock engine :D There is not a perfect car.... nor a perfect humang being... I like the ls.... and its the ONLY lexus i would buy.... the gs is faster but its a lot less roomy and its definitely noisier and for the difference in performance...hmm.. not worthwhile.... all in all we will be happy if we talk about how great these cars are and not which is better than which... it will open up for more tech talk and a lot less chit eating :D have fun people
  19. *BLEEP* i get close to that on one tank of gas on the highway too, took a trip from ny to ga. and didnt have to fill up until halfway into north carolina. you sound like you dont have any appreciation for the ls400 so i wonder why you have 4 of them, am i correct? seems to me that you could have put that ls motor in a long time ago ← the ls makes 22 gals.. that alone is 4 gals more of running around.... giving 25 mpg that is 100 more miles.... so you see where my comparison is.... what i hate is that people talk trash about hte american car and no one really has a good basis on why the car is crap... maybe its... because the engineering of the american car IS NOT CRAP! Thing is that they skim to make it more accessible to the masses... yes i could have done it.... it has been done on a bimmer and all the bimmermen like it. I do have appreciation hence why i like the car... I came on an awesome deal for my 98 and i wasn't going to let it go... i really liked the car... but if i had a disyunctive between the CTS-V and the LS... i would have CHOSEN the CTS-V in a heart beat.... these are great cars... no denying it.. and consumer reports put toyota up top.... but they are way overpriced. at least here.
  20. Lets see what we can accomplish with this.... i just want to have something similar to what that picture i posted above.
  21. it has air suspension if next to the shift knob there is a high normal button.... and if you look at the shocks and you see no springs.... i have them both... the difference is quite nice and very noticeable.. i like it....
  22. I LOVE THE CTS-V! i just had an awesome deal on this one and i couldn't let it go.. and that crossplatform ideal is what makes the engine a lot cheaper too... and the overall size of the engine is smaller than an ls! and lighter :D
  23. will follow your advice as i broke one of the vacuum fittings and i need to fix it tommorrow... so i have to remove the maf again.... that one that doesn't follow advice will never reach old age...
  24. yes.. i will top out at 147mph which i never did.
