  1. Not sure if it works the same on the car... but I think it does. This happened at my home last year with the AC system... cause was the unit was low on freon... once freon was added the unit operated fine. You may also be low on freon.
  2. I found my chrome ones on craigslist for $80 a piece and thought I got a decent deal... they were like new and bought them in January this year. They are for my 1999 model that really needs the chrome to set of the Antique Sterling Metallic paint...(where do they come up with these names?) lol
  3. OK.. you got me... couldn't believe it... and sure enought.. not true... LOL...
  4. I had the same problem on a Honda accord... Using a sprinkler on specfic parts of the car I was able to trace it down to the driver's door as the entry point. Evidently some work had been done prior to my ownership and the plastic liner was not sealed properly... Water would just pour in through the closed window and into the car... May not be your issue... but certainly was mine...
  5. Wow...and I thought I'd been through a lot of LS cars...but you beat me by a long shot. Like you, once I bought my first one, I was hooked and didn't look back. I'm with you Billy on the ride, drive, looks of the 98-2000 models...come on by sometime and I'll let you drive the 430... then you can be happy with your 400... Keep up the good work.
  6. My used toothbrushes get relegated to the detail shop... after they are cleaned, of course... These work well for cleaning in the seams of the leather... just press down and separate with one hand and it exposes a lot of dirt and grime in there. Toothbrush, followed by vacuum and then the detergent/leather cleaner of your choice... I prefer to rub it in by hand...to avoid most of it being absorbed by the cloth...then come back and wipe dry with micro fiber towel. Seems to work well...
  7. Did the 1994 come with a FOB? I know my 93 did not... it's built into the key, but not like the latter models. My 95 has a fob...and Sewell Lexus shows this fob But when I search for 1994 model year, they don't show one... http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accessories-catalog/Keys/LS400-1995/2716.html for $117 for Club Lexus members... You might also try ebay and match up the numbers you have on your current one. I recently bought shells and keys from there for my 430 and had good luck. Good luck...
  8. I still think these cars are the absolute best value for the money... used, that is... I need some intervention... as I seem to buy them at will... but not the 460... that does not appeal to me... Recently upgraded my mom from 95 to 2001 LS430 and she is in heaven... something about heated seats for an older person .... I lust after my dad's 93 that only has 120k miles, and enjoy both the 99 and 2004 we have already... But her old 95 with 139K on does great also... just not worth many $$ but a great driving car. I probably need to see a specialist....
  9. Not sure where he bought it from... But it's $11 here... http://lexuspartsonline.net/lexus-ls400-parts/ just cut and paste the part number in the search box to get the following... GASKET FUEL TANK CA Make: Lexus | Part#: 7731616010 List Price: $15.20 Your Price: $10.79
  10. May not seem like much... but I know when I cleaned the TB on my mom's 2001 LS430.... I had to disconnect the negative battery cable to reset the ECU as the car had very high RPMs at idle.... seems it has a learning component to it. Resetting the ECU allowed the idle RPM to return to normal. So while you may not think it makes a difference... the ECU thinks it does. Thanks againf for another great tutorial with pics... excellent work.
  11. Richard... excellent work. I look forward to bringing my 1999 over so you can get some more experience. JK... Great info and pics. I know it takes time to do this and the rest of us really appreciate the effort you put into this. I liked your idea of a rubber tube to remove the plugs... I ran into this a long time ago on my daughter's Honda Accord. Then I found when I replaced the plug wires, I could cut over the wire part and use the long plug connection as my new spark plug tool to remove and insert spark plugs. It's a perfect fit as it was made for spark plugs. I keep a couple in my tool box all the time. Thanks again for the great info..
