  1. 1997 Lexus ES300 2 owners $5500 Just purchased it with 134,000 and in excellent condition.. Needed engine motor mount, pitted windshield replacement, shocks, and a full tuneup.. Did most of the work myself.. No mods Age 39, AAA insurance The car is nice and rides smoothe...Basically a glorified Camry...It is my put around car when not driving my modified SC400 and Toyota Landcruiser...
  2. My freind fixed the cluster needles...What he did is gut out the neon lighting on the back of the needles and installed tiny clear white bulbs...Little smoldering and the job was done...Came out even better then my own lextech bright white needles.... He did all the needles for $10....*BLEEP*ed me off... Lextreme.com has my friends write up on how to...The thread is called "cluster needles" check it out... Lextech lighting is a good choice for needles but becareful about using them for the bright back ground lighting... You may get six months to a year of use before the back groud lights start burning out... I am living proof of that... The owner of the company has rediculous attitude too....
  3. An outstanding choice.... The newer Landcruisers are vantastic trucks, use a bit of gasoline though because they are AWD.... Very comfortable and reliable rides..... Can't go wrong.. I've owned the FJ40 (5.7 Chevy motor), FJ80 and FJ100, all were and are very durable, very reliable, and good offroad vehicles in general...The newer cruisers sit too low and are useless for any real off road use without a lift, but are great for a city driven SUV.... Get the 2002 Cruiser, you won't regret it....They are loaded and have all the goodies...

  5. Get coilovers....
  6. The Eibach lowering springs are very stiff when new, after 6 months the ride will smoothe outs.... The frist three months of use you may want to burn the Eibach springs....However, The car will handle like it is on rails though....... Coilovers are the best choice by far, but for a year or two the Eibachs and Tomiko's aren't bad if your into cornering and handling.....May even beat out a coilover system.....Suspension is reduced by 33% with the 2" drop from the Eibach's....Hit a "big" bump the car may bottom out.... Hit a turn and the car grips....It's a trade off... Night and day compared to stock....
  7. Sounds like there is a bad ground or an electrical short and or over load problem....That surely doesn't sound like an easy fix....ECU, wire harness, etc....Hard to tell... Good luck on the fix wish I could be more help...
  8. Well what happened after you replaced the two? Did they burn out again?
  9. Salt and pepper
  10. Student loans to help maintain your cars needs???? Nothing like going into debt to accomodate your hobbies....Adults use equity lines, is there really a difference?

  12. Tein flex coilovers are the best....You pay for them too...Lucky to get a set for under $1000... Ouch... You know they have an electric setting box made for in cabin suspension adjustments...Toggle switch to adjust...Very cool for tein flex's... I will sport the Tein flex's one day in my ride when I see a good deal pop up...For now I am dealing with the Eibachs and Tomiko crap...
  13. Well first off - 1) Lexus's run strong and won't break down as much as let's say American made vehicles...Especially when comparing older model to older model.. 2) Do like I did and learn how to do the work yourself. Like routine maintenance to prevent breakdowns from occuring.... This and other forums give you the knowledge and know how to do every repair on your own and save big money.... 3) What car could you get used that would last longer then a used Lexus in good shape? Maybe a Toyota Camry or something.... My 1992 SC400 has broken down only once and that was from the stock battery blowing up upon start one day many years ago and that's it....It's been sooooo reliable... I also pretty much doubled the stock power output too.... Well the tranny did blow recently but that was my own fault....No tranny cooler and 475 ft pounds of torque was the culprit...

  16. Here is your watered down Miller light beer jzz30 Good call on the repair......... :)

  18. I would correct any problem myself..... That's just me... Anyway, never take your car to a new car dealership for repairs or maintenance unless it is free and still under warranty.... The only positive that comes from taking your Lexus to a new car dealership is that they will be using true OEM parts that's it......Other then that it is a total rip off.... I have found that some import repair shops are just as knowledgeable as the any dealership repair center... Find one that's been around for a while... Find a local good import repair shop near you and take your car to them...Ask in advance for any replacement parts, also tell them your your here to save money and not pay dealership prices, and lastly tell them you will be looking over any repair they do for legitamacy... Hopefully all that will keep some grease balls on the up and up..... Good luck...
  19. Go to Midas and save $400 if you must...... A little rust is no biggie on the rotor as long as the surface is smoothe and is not warped, always try and use OEM parts.... Gotta love the dealerships always trying to rip you off....Man people....

  24. No, all someone has to do is buy a used cluster with low mileage and swap.... I hope I am not giving anyone any ideas on this thread... Odometer fraud is a federal offense.... It's not worth it....
