  2. No it is not your catylitic converter... The gas smell you are smelling could only be two things, first a fuel leak which could be dangerous...Second your car is running to rich of fuel mix... Where are you smelling the gas smell, inside the car or outside? Or both?
  3. I am not an expert on the SC300 mods...Only the SC400's... Clublexus.com is a forum that really dictates mods for SC300's...Get on that and use the search function and look up exhaust mods..That should give you more then enough info for mod'ing you SC3...

I myself and a close freind both have used the Daisens bushing...Mine mushroomed after 3 months, my friends made noise and began mushrooming after one month...I ended up throwing my LCA and daisen bushing in the trash...Headed down to the Toyota Dealership and purchased new Lower Control Arms from the 93-98 Supra TT's with the OEM bushing already mounted ($550 for two)...They are still on my SC400 and it made such a big difference.... Yes, everyone uses the Daisens on the CL.... I would love to hear about all these guys after a year...Unless you keep those bushing lubed you will have trouble eventually... OEM bushings are the best they have metal cores and metal side plates to keep the bushings from mushrooming out on the sides...

  9. Troy - For an SC300 I would start with reworking the entire exhaust to hi flow...Change the mufflers, cats, and piping, headers too if you really want to get into it.. The stock exhaust is very restrictive... Then go with the BFI intake...It's free and works wonderfully on any SC... planetsoaror.com has the BFI intake design which illustrates for you how to rework your stock intake to high flow.. You can do both for not too much money... That will give you some topend power for sure... Next the torque converter.... Dilla not problem.......

TM engineering is the biggest rip off, the guy named Todd is a jerk and lier...He will quote you one price the come back with another, he will say he is going to do a certain job and then cut corners...I am shocked he is still in business. I can't stand that guy and would like to beat him down if given the opportunity... A very shady business man... I almost sued him... Go ebay for bushings if you can...Daisens suck anyway, short life expectancy, and can make noise after a short period of time...No side rails on those big rubber bushings that is the problem with the Daisens..They begin to mushroom out after a year or so and are useless...

  13. Well as far as the throttle body goes, you can just remove the big plastic hose inlet and use carb cleaner to clean out your throttle body..No need to remove it.. I would look to make sure you re-assembled it back together correctly...Check all the sensor connections too...No air leaks or detached hoses.. Lastly I would run the car and spray just the open end of the throttle body with STP carb cleaner and see if that helps... The car will want to stall when you remove the snorkel tube so maintain the idle manually...Spray and it will stall, repeat...Open the butterfly and spray that too....You won't blow your engine... It sounds like you have a vacume leak or air leak...Check those tiny rubbber hoses...
  14. Your Rack bushing and LCA bushings are shot...You need to change them out... I have a 92 SC400 and they all wear out by now... I replaced my LCA arms with Supra 93 arms (they bolt right in) and replaced the little rack pinion bushing and the car handled like new... Toyota dealer $500. Or you can try Daisen bushing or OEM bushing replacement....
  15. Sounds like a clogged injector... Usually when you run out of gas you suck up all the bottom crap off the gas tank and that can clog or foul the injectors...Maybe even clog the fuel filter or line in some cases... You are on the right track, I think you need to really clean out those injectors... You say a cylinder is not firing...That has got to be a fuel cut off...
  16. Remove the cluster and re-attach the leads you could have a bad connection...If not your cluster is dead or a bad speed sensor... Junk yards will sell you a new cluster for like $400 but it will change your mileage...
  17. Sounds like you have a poor idle....Change the air filter and spray out the throttle body and that should help the idle... If you stall then it could be something more, like a clogged fuel filter, electrical sensor problem.... Any dash lights come on, and how does the car act around town? Does it stall at red lights? We need more info...Maybe get a computer diagnostic check as well...
  18. I've flushed the tranny fluid...Or changed it...However, I used a machine that sucks up the old fluid and replaces with new.. Very simple and most tranny shops and Jiffy Lubes use this machine...I replaced my fluid with Sythetic standard transmission fluid...T2 and T4 is overrated....

  23. This thread never dies...Amazing... Well as far as upping the tranny line pressure goes... Upsides - Crispier shifts, reduced slippage between shifting which helps preserve the life of the tranny, performs slightly better... Downsides - When shifting from gears reverse to drive to park from a stand still there will be a clunk... It's good for the tranny, a little plus for performance, not so good for the luxury feel when shifting..It's just a little more crisp between shifts...Not a real big deal... Most import transmission shops can up the line pressure for you for maybe a hundred dollars or so...There is also a write up on how to do it at Lextreme.com forums... ....
