  1. Not sure that the sensors necessarily are coded individually to the car, more so to the TPMS control unit which should be quite standard There are a selection of TMPS sensor reset tools on eBay which may provide an alternative route forward https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=lexus+tpms+sensor+reset+tool&_sacat=0
  2. 14 years! you did incredibly well on those pads! Not sure about the Hybrid fault, as you say it could be a false positive code which may or may not return and as which I wouldn't worry about it until it does. Sometimes I used to inform my customers that it would have to break before I could fix it as you would have no idea of where to start otherwise. Keep us informed on how it all pans out
  3. Probably best method would be to go in through the grill....if you can remove it without damaging anything. If not, then from underneath with a long bar, if accessible
  4. I have come across 'bad' battery cells before and even those which have short-circuited across due to high capacity boost starters which can warp the plates and lead to this. Also, poor/cheap quality batteries are also noticeable by their weight (e.g. less lead content) which leads to poor storage capacity.
  5. Hi Nathan....welcome to the Forum You could fit some lowered springs but as you say this would not only affect the ride height but also the camber, albeit not by a huge amount for a moderate drop in spring height. I'm sure some other members will drop in and come up with some pearls of wisdom
  6. Hi James....welcome to the Forum I imagine that if the tyres have not rolled over much distance in that amount of years then the rubber could have hardened up (depending on ambient temperatures) and over time, may soften up with use. Alternatively, without actually seeing a close view of the tyre carcass then it may also be quite heavily cracked with age (the rubber has dried up). I would inspect the tyres carefully for any visual cracking on the sidewalls and tread as if the car has stood in the same position for a period of time then this can lead to perishing in localised areas of the tyre. Worth carefully checking and adjusting the tyre pressures (may be too high)
  7. If the reservoir is full then it could be the thermostat being stuck closed which is causing the issue. I would not run it for too long with coolant starvation to the engine....rather take it to a local garage for them to run some tests.
  8. Hi Jim Yes, definitely air in the cooling system which has left a vacuum in the hoses once the coolant has been evacuated from the radiator. You need to fill the cooling system and run it until it is expelling air from the hoses. You need to be careful not to scold yourself on hot water being expelled but if you loosen off the heater hose clamps and carefully allow a certain amount of the hose to become loose (but not come off) then this should allow the air out. Do this on the heater hoses with the heater set to hot on the controls. When you see coolant coming out after all the air has been evacuated then tighten the hose clamps and feel the hoses for a similar temperature. If you find the hoses contract again, then the system is drawing air from somewhere (potentially the pressure cap is failing and not allowing the pressure to be maintained).
  9. Hi Julie....welcome to the Club It sounds like a wheel imbalance causing the shuddering which is easily rectified. Generally the SC is a superb car but like any other, pay careful attention to vehicle documentation and as long as you have had an inspection then it should be absolutely fine
  10. Hi Karyn Although the RX450h engine does have a timing chain and in general timing chains do wear, there are no records that we can find that state the chain needs replacing as a maintenance item. However, if there is a distinct rattling coming from the front of the engine then I would have the car inspected to determine whether it is advanced wear on the chain and tensioners.
