  3. No i have not made it yet. I don't have all my power tools with me or I would have made it myself. Bestbuy wants 150. Anyone know anyone cheaper?
  4. I managed to get the plug locally at pepboys. I installed them already. Car runs great. Idles' better. I don't think there will be any difference in fuel intake but I will check tomake sure. The old plugs were in bad shape.
  5. i starting to change the plugs out in my car. THe 2 under the intake manifold are a ROYAL P.I.T.A. I did manage to get them finally. The tips of one the plugs broke when it fell. Can I get it locally at pepboys?
  6. Well, i have finished the camry navigation system for the most part. Everything is good to go. I just got the XM unit in today. My camry nav has the option of adding a XM module to it. I bought the XM module that was meant for a ES330. It came with the brackets, harness, HUGE antenna, and module. The cheapest I found it was 410 dollars. Toyota wanted 650 for the Xm module for the solora which is the same thing! I will install it when i get some time and post results.
  7. as long as the wheel physically fits, there should be no problem besides the extra wiring. I believe there are 4 wires for the audio controls. I am going to add them to my 97 sooner or later.
  8. perfect. There is no modification required for the mounting of the unit. Direct swap totally. Just wiring mod. I will make a trim piece and post pics later.
  9. I paid 50 with shipping for 6 of them on ebay.
  10. here are some more pics in this link. http://homepage.mac.com/drsunilpatel/PhotoAlbum19.html
  11. I installed a factory toyota nav system in my es300. I will post more pics when I finish the trim piece. Here are the initial pictures. http://homepage.mac.com/drsunilpatel/PhotoAlbum19.html
  12. Hank, I just finished the distronic on my c class and it works great. Very very nice feature to have.
  13. Here is a photo for you non believers. I have to finish the trim bezel still. No time at the moment.
  14. I placed an order for 6 NGK iridiums for my 97 ES. Stock in my car were platinums. I will let you all know how they perform.
  15. the nav works fine. I already wired it up. I have all the pinouts already. Also, I have the necessary connectors too. I spliced them onto my old factory harness. I knew the changer would not work and did not care. The trim piece is going to be custom made. The amp i used was the original Pioneer amp that came with the car since it accepts line level inputs from the nav. I had to get the speed signal and the reverse signal from the instrument cluster. I tested everything and it works great. I have done several nav installs for mercedes and even mercedes nav units in other cars. Anything can be done if you have the right resources. I have the wiring diagrams of the es so I had no problem and I also had the wiring of the toyota Nav system.
  16. It drives perfectly with no problems. It goes straight and no rattles either. The washer fluid bottle seems like it is hanging on one side. I need to remove it and see if the mounting is messed up.
  17. I have had my 97es for 1 month now. It runs great. No problems at all. I was toying in the engine bay area and noticed some rust. Well, after doing further research, it appears that the car has been in a front end collision. The headlights are misaligned also. The right one is a little forward than the left one. I looked underneath also. The top radiator brace is also mis aligned. It is protruding out a bit in the right side. You can clearly make out where the original brace and the new brace differs. Should I take it to a body shop to get everything realigned. I can take most of the parts apart myself. Just need help with the metal work since I don't weld. What do you all think?
  18. I flushed my 97 with water and changed to the pink stuff.
  19. When my a/c is on, it is making a little noise. Only when on. I sprayed some lube around the clutch area and the noise went away but is back after 4 days. Can I replace just the clutch or is it part of the compressor as one piece? Also, when i switch the a/c on, it engages the clutch fine but sounds like it is doing it 2 times. It sounds like "click ... Click" Is this normal?
  20. I called american stitches and they quoted me 451.00 for recovering the old wheel with new leather and wood on top and bottom. Looks factory. I will try them out next week. The new wheel with wood at the dealer is 2000 dollars I am also replacing the gear shift knob on my 97es300. it is really worn out and the color is comign out. The price at the dealer for a new knob is 90 bucks. I was surprised it was only 90 bucks!
  21. I just received the nav systen. Checked all wiring. Seems like the pioneer amp will be fine for the nav system. The only 2 wires I need to get are the speed signal and reverse signal from the instrument cluster. THe dimensions of the unit are perfect for the opening of the dash. I will have to get a trim piece fabricated for the trapezoid opening since the nav is rectangular. This baby has to many features in it! Even all the maintaince reminders built in for everything including ATF, Oil change, brake pads, etc. There are so many options. I will post pics when i finish.
  22. even if the elements are bad, I should be getting power at the connector. Also, the battery voltage remains the same with the switch turned on.
