  1. I OWN A CAR STEREO/ACCESSORY STORE IN RICHMOND VIRGINIA AND I'LL BE GLAD TO HELP YOU GUYS WITH DIAGRAMS AND STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON REMOTE STARTER INSTALLATION. I HAVE DISASSEMBLED SO MANY LEXUS' I KNOW THEM IN MY SLEEP. FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME AT 804 358 9576 OR EMAIL ME AT SAMOHT023@AOL.COM WWW.TINTASSASSIN.COM
  2. I USUALLY DRIVE WITHIN REASON BUT SOMETIME YOU JUST GOTTA GO 130MPH. THE CAR IS JUST SO SO SMOOTH IN THE TRIPLE DIGITS!
  3. WHEN YOU CHANGE YOUR MOTOR OIL YOU DO NOT JUST DRAIN A QT AND MIX NEW OIL WITH THE OLD OIL, SO WHY NOT TREAT THE TRANNY THE SAME WAY. COME ON GUYS WE DRIVE LEXUS'. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY IT TAKES TO KEEP SUCH A FINE MACHINE IN PROPER RUNNING CONDITION THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD BUY A LESS DEMANDING VEHICLE. I'VE ALWAYS BELEIVED THAT IF YOU CANNOT FIX IT THEN YOU SHOULDN'T DRIVE IT. ALL VEHICLES WILL HAVE MECHANICAL ISSUES SOONER OR LATER UNLESS YOU LEAVE IT IN THE GARAGE AND LOOK AT IT.
  4. I'D GET IT LOOKED AT ASAP AND THEN PROCEED FROM THERE. THE REAL PROBLEM IS THAT YOUR CHEATING ON YOUR LEXUS WITH THE ACURA. I GUESS THAT'S OK BECAUSE THEY ARE THE BEST TWO BRAND IN BED! I DRIVE A 95 INTEGRA IN ADDITION TO THE COUPE.
  5. $1800 INSTALLED INCLUDING F/R LASER DIFFUSERS. WWW.K40.COM
  6. I HAVE THE K40 SYSTEM 2000 ON MY SC. EVERYONE HERE KNOWS HOW EASY IT IS TO FIND YOURSELF GOING 85 IN A 55. THIS SYSTEM WORKS BETTER THAN ANY SYSTEM I'VE EVER OWNED OR TESTED. IT OFFERS FRONT AND REAR PROTECTION AND HAS FRONT AND REAR LASER DIFFUSER AS OPTIONS. THE BEST PART IS THE CUSTOM INSTALLATION. ALL OF THE LEDS GET MOUNTED INSIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SO THE CAR LOOKS TOTALLY STOCK. I'VE HAD IT FOR A FEW YEARS AND HAVEN'T RECEIVED A SPEEDING TICKET YET. ALTHOUGH, IT DIDN'T HELP ME FROM RECEIVING A RECKLESS DRIVING TICKET YESTERDAY FOR DOING A NASTY BURNOUT AT AN INTERSECTION NOT REALIZING THAT CAR APPROACHING THE INTERSECTION FROM THE OTHER DIRECTION WAS A UNMARKED COP CAR. OH WELL, THAT'S WHAT LAWYERS ARE FOR! :D
  7. IT'S MY UNJDERSTANDING THAT THE TRANNY HOLDS 12-15 QTS AND CANNOT BE FULLY DRAINED JUST BY EMPTYING THE PAN. I ALWAYS THOUGHT THE BEST WAY TO GET THE FLUID OUT WAS TO USE THE MACHINE THAT SYPHON AND REPLACES THE FLUID OR DISCONNECT THE HOSES GOING TO THE RADIATOR AND PUMP THE ENTIRE SYSTEM THAT WAY AS THERE IS QUITE A BIT OF FLUID IN THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR THAT CIRCULATES FOR COOLING. PLEASE CORRECT ME IF MY INFORMATION IS FALSE.
  8. I'M SURE THE ENGINEER THAT GETS PAID SIX FIGURES THAT DESIGNED THE CAR THOUGHT ABOUT THAT. I NEVER HEARD OF A LEXUS DETONATING WHEN REAR ENDED.
  9. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON WHAT PARTS ARE NEEDED OR HOW TO SPLICE INTO THE WIRING ON A 2000 GS400 TO A DVD VIDEO TO THE NAV SCREEN? I WANT TO ADD A DVD PLAYER TO THE VEHICLE BUT I HAVE THE FACTORY NAV SCREEN IN THE FRONT. I'VE SEEN A FEW CARS THAT HAVE BEEN DONE BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHAT WAS USED TO SEND VIDEO TO THE SCREEN. PLEASE HELP@!!!
  10. THAT TIRE IS MUCH TOO SMALL FOR THAT APPLICATION. THE MINIMUM TIRE I'D GO WITH ON THAT VEHICLE IS A 245/40/18. I THINK YOU WILL SACRIFICE HANDLING AND VEHICLE STABILITY WITH SUCH A SMALL TIRE. I NORMALLY INSTALL THAT SIZE TIRE ON HONDA ACCORDS AND ACURA CL'S. I HAVE A 93 SC400 WITH 18X8.5 ON THE FRONT AND 18X10 ON THE REAR. I RUN A 245/40/18 ON THE FORNT AND 275/35/18 IN THE REAR. THE HANDLING AND RIDE QUALITY IS EXCELLENT.
  11. If you signed a contract and it's been three months then I say it's their loss. If they made a mistake then they should take the loss or start the deal over and give you a brand new vehicle. I'm certain they will not do that because you vehicle will have to be sold as an used vehicle. Besides that, the money has already changed hands from the lending institution so the deal is over anyway, especially if you paid cash. Their loss. They'll make it up on the next sale.
  12. Filter is located under the glove box on passenger side. My car smelled like mildew whenever I switched to the outside air so I replaced the cabin filter and now I have clean fresh air!
  13. The fast blinking turn signal usually means you have a blown turn signal bulb in either the front or rear. Just turn the signal on and walk around the vehicle and look for the blown bulb. Check your coolant level. That light usually comes on when the fluid is low.
  14. Any mileage over 100k is excessive and you are taking your chances. These cars are built like tanks and will run for a few hundred thousand miles so long as they are maintained. I've seen Lexus' with low miles in terrible operating condition. You want to get the Lexus dealer to take a look at it for sure as they will point out everything that is wrong with it in hopes that you'll let them do the work. There is an advantage to buying a vehicle with high mileage however. If the owner took pride in his vehicle, all the things that are going to break usually have already been replaced by the time the car hits 150k. I have 180k on mine and she still does everything I want her to do and then some! The injectors tick on my 93SC400. It's very important to check the transmission fluid and rear diff oil. I use Amsoil synthetic in rear diff and OEM Toyota in the tranny. The coolant temp should read below half when it is at operating temp. You'll want to take a look under the car to inspect the rear drive axel boots for tears as they are very expensive and labor intensive to replace. Getting under the vehicle will expose any leaks that are going on. You'll want to see the bottom side of the motor with the splash shield removed to check for leaks or damage. I had a customer of mine who bought a 93 GS300 with 108k on it come into my shop just a few days ago that he just bought from a used car lot. The rear diff seals were leaking on both sides. The lower control arm bushings were worn. The boots on the steering rack were leaking. The power steering pump had a massive leak that was flinging fluid all over the serpentine belt. The car drove fine besides the 1100 rpm idle. So as you can see mileage doesn't mean everything. He paid 9k for his Lex from a used car lot. It would cost him another 3k to get that car right. They are wonderful machines but can easily be maintenance nightmares if you buy the wrong one. Check it out throughly and make sure you take a look under the bottom for yourself. Email me if you have any specific questions SAMOHT023@AOL.COM www.tintassassin.com
  15. I thought that also. I checked carefully and replaced the gasket between the cat exit and rear pipes. Still the same thing. Just a constant tick from both cats.
  16. Sounds like that might be illegal. ← Not as simple as changing the bulb as the beam pattern of the light is about 45 degrees off center. A better option would be to install aftermarket fog lamps in the vehicle or buy the fog lamps for the 96+ and install them. An upgrade of the vehicle wiring may be required for the additional current draw of fog lamps versus cornering lamps.
  17. I have a 93 SC400 with 180,000 miles on it. I gutted the catalyc converters to increase my exhaust flow but now I get a loud ticking ticking sound from both cats. I opened them back up to make sure no material was flying around in there and they are completely empty. The car runs great besides the continuous ticking. Could the tick be an echo from those loud ticking injectors. I never heard the sound before I gutted the cats. There is no ticking from the bottom end of the motor and the only ticking I hear is from the injectors when the hood is up. Any advice? :whistles:
  18. I just use that empty spot for the remote that goes to my stereo.
  19. Out with the old and in with the new. Scrap the old system and get something modern. There are many options out there today. www.tintassassin.com
  20. I plugged my SC400 into a code scanner and it repeatedly read code 14 and 41. I researched these codes to find out that code 14 is Ignition Signal and 41 is Throttle Position Sensor. There are no lights on in the instrument cluster and the vehicle runs like new with 176,000 miles on it. Can someone further explain these codes to me. Thanks!
  21. The best long lasting caliper paint on the market is made by Folia Tec. The red is awesome! Part Number 2160. Comes as a complete kit unlike using multipurpose high temp paint. Requires a 24hour cure time. www.rpmsuperstore.com
  22. You shouldn't be scared to buy because of high miles if the vehicle appears to be well taken care of. I know plenty of Lexus owners with well over 200,000 miles with excellent performance. Higher mileage usually means a better deal so the money you save initially will hopefully offset any repairs you need to make. Another advantage to purchasing a high mileage vehicle is that usually the typical things that go wrong have already been taken care of. I bought my 93 SC400 for $6000 with 170,000 miles on it. The alternator had just been replaced, battery, ac compressor, heater control valve, rotors, pads and the cornering light on the driver's side. A full service and tune up had been done recently also. We're talking three to four grand in repairs right before I bought it. Had I bought the vehicle with 30,000 less miles I would have had to spend that extra money myself on top of paying more for the vehicle. Lexus' are tough and worth investing in with high mileage so long as they have been taken care of. :D
  23. The traction control in the SC do not engage the rear brakes. It only cuts the throttle back when it detects slippage from the rear wheels. VSC (Vehicle Skid Control) or ESP (Electronic Stability Program) on newer vehicles actually modulate the brakes on the wheel in need.
