  1. if anyone reads this thread have any ideas please let me in I got a 94 es-300 over 210 th. on the dash had a motor put in at 160 th. on the dash they did the heads i know for sure but i dont thik they did the rings. The thing is after i ran it at 65 MPH for few minutes and let the car sit for bout 5-7 hrs or more and I start it this big cloud of look like grey blue smoke bust out for like 5 secs or more then it clears up. I check around bout this issue and most told me it's my value guide seals or could be my rings. Some suggest I use heavier oil I use what the manuel say and that's 5w 30 find out that's for cars under 100 th. so now I just switch to 10w30 and i added some oil detergine it still smokes after start. Should i keep doing this and wait a while longer or use 30w I dont want to overhaul the engine again :cries: What GURU on here can give me some help?....please it's my LEX LUTHER it's embrarrasing to start such a car ladies looking at me and car be smoking, just kill a chance of a date like that but really guys need some help on this :( :(

Well I kinda had the same issue with shifting and the motor moounts really dont have anything to do with it i dont think but it's good to replace 'em and far as the codes go if you keep driving and nothing really wrong the computer should reset itself automactlly with out you unpluging the battery try going to autozone see if those codes come up there if you're car has'nt already reset by now ;) and the abs goes i know i need to clean my abs sensor maybe youdo to my brakes works just fine so if your works good then you know it's not your braking system might just need to clean you abs sensor as i type this bout to do the same to see if my light goes off i pray it do
  3. :blink: Ha dont feel bad i got use to this guy sold me not a lemon more like an orange but i fix on it and fix on it take your time to fix the small things 1st then handle the big things one at a time you can also go to autozone to get an idea of what making your light come on most likely it is the sensor you got a map-load from speed sensors to Egr value in time just replace them all I think the owners who sell these cars just plain dog them out just cuz it's a luxury car and really want to see how durable it is. Or either the previous owners just think this car dont need maintenance and just drive when the light come one they just ignore it. :chairshot: but trust you get it back up to speed you love your car so much ;)

Man i should of been come to this thread well I got a 94' Es-300 got from this guy who seem to know this car had major problems and maybe why you he went from 2200 to 1700 :chairshot: here are a list of things i have done over the past 2 years stretch out and still doing things I put a-lot of money but i dont mine cuz i know when i finish it be worth it replace Engine 1600.00 included cost of putting it in Struts front 200.00 back 150.00 Oxygen sensors in front of engine 98.00 by exhaust manifold 120.00 after cat. 140.00 Egr value 140.00 Egr soloed 10.00 (salvage yard) Vacuum values set 165.00 ( from Toyota dealership) Speed sensor 160.00 Water pump including with changing the timing belt (400.00)Total Water pump 150.00 Lower control arm bushing 40.00 New Computer 300.00 (Online) NGK spark plugs 8.00 each Fuel filter 25.00 Starter 112.00 Now i'm working on the engine have a bluish smoke after I have ran it over 65MPH and let it set overnight trying heavier oil but it runs almost to Lexus specs and i'm proud of it it's my baby :D
  5. New to this club good they got Lexus lovers out there I Own a 1994 Es 300. There were many issues to my car which I bought from a guy who hid those issues when he sold it to me :chairshot: but i'm glad to say almost all those issues have been taken care of . I putting so much time in my car it's like she's part of me, so I took time out to customize her on the bumper got Lex Luther Edition with Superman stickers on the door. I'm very proud of my Lexus and plan on keeping it for a while and I would love to network myself on here with those who got same interest of their Lexus and see if anyone would like to start or know of a Lexus meeting in the Dallas Tx or surrounding area to ride off and show others Toyota is still what it is and we not going anywhere regardless what issues may be floating around out there, let it be known Toyota's not going anywhere and with 2 decades under their belt brought out Lexus which the name it self stands out of any Luxury car out there. SO STAND UP LEXUS OWNERS LET OTHERS FEEL OUR PRESENCE AS RX, LS, ES,IS, SC'S AND NEW HYBRIDS TAKE OVER THIS PLANET TO MAKE IT A FULL GROWN LEXUS PLANET!!!!!
  6. ha you know if you change plugs have you ever your value cover gaskets? need to change those once a year or so :whistles:
  7. Well others having suggest it but a simple tune up could be the issue and changing the fuel filter
  8. i agree with pretty much most of what people are saying on here . If your car is dying and your Check light is on get the codes and that can be the cause of it but also keep in mine like they said you might just got a stop up fuel filter and I know for show that make your car die. Need to change those things like once a year ;)
  9. If you're in the city of Dallas Tx and see a Lexus es300 with Lex Luther Edition on the bumper it's mine B) . Want to make my baby known in the Lexus community :) , just a few issues I still gotta deal with being that this car was pretty much scrap when I bought it :( from this guy who was going to sell for 2200.00 then drop it down to 1700.00 just like that over the past 2 years i merely rebuilt this car to if not close the Lexus standards damn it close enough rebuilt engine 1600.00, front struts 200.00 back struts 150.00, oxygen sensor in front 109.00 behind exhaust manifold 130.00 and after Cat converter 98.00, Egr value 142.00 and soloed 10.00 ( junk yard) new starter 112.00, New computer 350.00, speed sensor, 160.00 and new tire front and back came out to be 260.00 From what this car was before it was sold to me and now i think big improvment but i still gotta a ways to go but i do promise this you see me down the road you notice me :P

Well my story starts off in Dallas Tx I'm a man who is use to driving Ford's and Chystler's, never had a real luxury car before till now, to realize how much I learnt over the years some by accident some over the net and from listening to others to find the truth with this combination of knowledge which made me appreicate my car even more. Start off i'm a basic country boy who is use to American made cars and thought those who drive import were nothing but snob's. ;) Move towards the big city and took up a parking tentant job on the high end of town. Parking well-off people's car's was how I made my living, driving Mercedezz BMW's all those car's which I knew I cound'nt afford. It was something bout the Lexus I love but didnt understand what it was but of all the car's I park I really took my time when I drove the Lexus and didnt accept any tips for them ( some were shock, Thought just let me drive this Lexus was tip enough). I kept saying I'm going to get one of these not sure what model but I want one. My co-workers just laugh with the money I was making maybe you can get a junk Lexus....didnt matter long as it was a Lexus. On a real Hot day in Dallas Tx on my way to pick up my check... this lady hit me, so as that long month with on and i collected the insurance money I knew that my plans of owning a Lexus was bout to be set in motion. No I didnt go to no car lot looking for a Lexus drove around looking for forsale signs. I found one in my own apartment, it was a 1994 es-300, I drove 2000 es-300's so it's older but still a Lexus. It was light grey with brown trimming's the top of the roof was faded, inside the seats were torn, the windshield was badly crack, the sign for 2200.00 seem a lil much I had him to come off to 1800.00 didnt take it for no test drive didnt take it to a mech pretty much talk to him for 5 mins give me the keys thanks B) Wow my 1st Luxury car ever...and it was an import..so now I'ma slob that park cars for a living...i can live with that. Look online in 1994 this car was worth 32,000.00 wow never had no car that was worth that much at time of production. Also read how Lexus is sisters with Toyota on the highier end...how more of a snob can you get then to be on a highier end? B) Just another Camry like Lincoln is to Ford Infinity is to Nissian and so on. So I studied the Camry and all their features and found I had a button I can press that can give me a boost in my Transmission wow. Turn this connector to make my windshield wipers disappear cool and I turn off the ignition switch while my lights are on and open the door lights turn off.. Luxury baby. My co-workers cound'nt believe i'm driving a car we normally park i smell envy and i like how it smell :P All good things come to an end :cries: 3 days of floating on cloud nine my hood started to smoke and after 300.00 to find my Head-gasket was blown damn. So after 3 months in a repair shop and 1600.00 later, we are back at last. After watching "The fast and the Furious" and a few drinks a vision of putting Superman stickers appeal to me and a lay-out of customizing my car. On the bumper call her LEX-LUTHER-EDITION..hhhmmm not bad I got a Lexus Lex Luther and Superman is Lex's enemy so...what the hell I needa paint job the roof really made this car not shine so much so I went online to learn how to paint your car.... after 3 hours browsing the web it took me 4 days to get the roof done not bad for someone not knowing what the hell they doing i say. So driving thru the hood with many laughing at me but I knew the wasnt laugh at me but with me and my style the never seen before. I got sooo much attention i was spoiling myself. Drivng a car that was worth 32 G's 15 years ago and the hating looks i get at work from my co-workers put me on this high I never been on before. at times at work when get into a Lexus almost the same year as mine I tell them bout the features like the wipers and they look at me stun like how i know this? Some even ask did I do repairs on the side. I said yes, had to look important you know, and they give me thier number for questions they had and all i did was look on the web for the answer extra $$ Again all good things come to an end a whole month of being a snob, my check engine light came on, pop right over to autozone they put the computer on their and like list of codes from EGR value, Air flow sensor, Oxygen sensors. damn what the hell is all this I ask a few mech;s about it some say you can drive some say you cant drive with these problems. Well this is a Lexus dont need any check engine lights. Found as for the Oxygen sensor's I had 4 one in front of the engine the easiest to change one where the at the bottom of the car took it some where to get that one done check engine light still on and the other one by the manifold that i change it but it was hard to get to check engine light went off and that feeling of being a snob came back pulling up to gas stations some people ask me bout my lex luther I say ha it's my baby thank you for noticing. As I drive I can see people from my rear view mirror just looking at my car and try to pull up to see whose inside, sometimes i speed up just enough to where they could'nt get to me. Here we go Check engine light again...dammmmn autozone again ( I should work there) code said something bout not enogh flow EGR so they told me I needed a EGR value, cool price was not bad 140.00 and wasnt hard to put on but that didnt stop light from going off. Took it to a mech told me i needed to clean the EGR system out 190.00 :suggest he order one from the dealer so i left, got online and read about toyota's EGR systems and found that the soloid can also cause this code. Went to a local junk yard got one for 10 plug it up light was still on but after 5 miles it went off.. time for celebration get some cold one's and start singing what ever was on the radio bout 3 weeks later guess what :cries: yes again check engine light ( is there a camera in this car to record my actions?) why, why why me? why cant i be happy? took back to autozone where i should work or have an account and still said EGR? this autozoner had no clue so i went to pep boys and ask them bout the code and told them all I had done. He told me call Lexus, I did and told them all I had done so far and he told me on the phone have you ever change the Vacuum Values? What are Vacuum Values, he explain If you change the EGR value you also need to change the vacuum values. There was 3 of the prices 98.00 142.00 and 170.00 damn that's my whole check. Feeling that empty feeling in my foot I thought bout how Toyota was the same and call them and found they sold the whole set for 165.00 damn I got there soon as Lex got me there and it took me a minute to figure out how the vacuum hoses hook to it but i did it I did a job that would of cost me 100.00?? me no mech me I did it... time to weeks past with no problem no it's time to meet chicks what can i say as a good pick up line? ' ha you ever rode with superman...no..no nooo, ahhh ha you wanna fly away with me? well i gotta work on that. I start to realize I had what look like oil leaks and look under the hood oil is O.k but my power steering fluid was empty and every time i turn i hear that draining sound from the steering wheel come to find out my power steering hose had a leak. I look at it I dont think i can do this one, took it to a shop and the guy took the whole day to put it on i waited and waited went into the gauage and still working on it like damn. At that time I notice how many cars this man had to work on and he was working on mine and 5 others at the same time. finally before he close I got my car back and felt hungry after that long wait I stop got something to eat and my car wounlnt start. What the hell this time :cries: look under the hood, didnt take long I seen 2 wires hanging loose. This guy must was rushing so when he put my hose on he knock those wires loose so i just look at it for a while and hook up one and the other back up and tape it. Car started up find I heard off from a distance " he know how to work on cars too", ( just on mine i guess) Came to find out that was my camshaft sensor ( wonder why they put it there?) O>k this car is almost perfect... i think. bout a month followed and i notice it act like didnt want to shift into the last gear. When I drive other gears seem to shift ok but this last one would not shift. I can see why this guy wanted to drop the price this car was hunted took it to a transmission shop and after 3 hours 400.00 later to find my computer that control the engine and transmission was bad it didnt send the signal to shift into overdrive they say. So they replace the computer and it shift fine. We are 9 months till i had that done no problems yet but i'm not going to just yet I think there is an evil force out there that dont want me tooo so i'ma stop being a snob for a while....just a while now

  14. well my input being i got a simular problem still working on <_< I do know the Oxygen sensor has nothing to do with the shifting and for you to take it there and they didnt want to give you a print out sounds like they wanna get ya so i report that if you want i hate those type people but anyway.....I thought it was the car speed sensor and the tranny speed sensor? real talk.. you get around to it just replace them all one at a time so that wya you have that not to worry about in the future and those sensors are nothing to replace you just get down there the tranny by the fire wall 2 bolts pull it off the car one on the case one bolt pull it off hope that can help
  15. <_< rumor is if your car is use to using dino stick to it cuz actualy most the slug build up is kinda good if you have like over 100 K on it. some of the slug from what i understand stops up those seals that may leak... with the syn.. it cleans out the slug which expose the seals that could leak..now this is just rumor i feel if you just settle down with high mileage oil and use oil treatment you car still be happy i use castrol high milage

Wow had the same problem except i just seen it every where not paid to be told.. ouch :chairshot: but at lase you know... well i can tell you you may need to replace your power steering hose I got mine from autozone paid like 60.00 for it took it some where paid like 70.00 put on this is not a simple job to do so pay some one to do it but i got a little bad news to add sorry :cries: while your power steering is leaking it could leak right on your arm bushing causing it to go bad soon so you might have to replace that and also i learnt when you run your car like that with out any fluid in there for so long inside your engine can make some gaskets to crack so watch out for that as well ... but you can add seal conditioners when you change your oil and really if you look at your power steering cap you find it dont really use power steering fluid it preferr to use, you ready for this... transmission fluid the same kind you put in the transmission...yes i know that sounds weird but look on the cap it tell you use Deacron 2 so i hope this helps ;)

  18. well I hope this help as far as the play goes you may need to gett some one to rasie the car up and see is your arm bushings any good.. i had to replace one of mine in my 94 those bushings can get bad and make some play in your steering wheel and sometimes if you got a whop tire can make it shake as well do you have any new tires or these kinda use?
  19. you got that problem. . well as far as the fan clutch not really sure being i have a 94 es 300 the fan is control the power steering pump and circulates thru the fan itself ... so i suggest checking our power steering fluid see is itfull cus i do know even though you fan is turning those rev's it may nto be turning fast enuff to cool your engine I had to replace my power steering hose that was leaking and i notice the temp guage then was highier then it is now due to the leak.... but when i replace it the temp went down juss a little and a mech. told me the my fan was not turning fast enuff for my engine to cool...so.. i hope that help a bit
