  1. I was looking under the hood on my '03 ES and I noticed the upper motor mount had two big flat rubber washers on either side of the bushing. They were very loose.....just hanging there. I looked at another '03 ES and it had the same thing. Does anybody have an idea why they put them there? Alan
  2. Nice work Chris......Now if you want to model an '02 or'03 Lexus ES300 in Silver I'd be very interested in buying it from you. Let me know what you would charge for something like that? Alan
  3. I guess there must have been a good reason why Lexus decided to use a white type of bulb in their HID lights rather than the blue bulbs. What do you think? Alan
  4. I have the HID lights on my '03 ES and they certainly don't look as blue as the picture on the previous post. Mine look very white. Why are they soooo blue looking or is that only on aftermarket HID's? Alan
  5. I also have a 2001 Corolla that smears the window if I open than close it after a car wash. I called it a problem in a previous post but it's really not a problem.......all Toyota vehicles do this. I just rented a new Nissan Maxima and that did it too. Alan
  6. I always had this problem on my '94 ES right from the day it was purchased new. Alan
  7. They added the lines in the '95 ES on the front lights. ;) Alan
  8. Thanks JPI, I'm eagerly awaiting an answer....positive I hope.......from you. Alan
  9. Yup, ProZac is right. Last month when I was reading the Owners Manual on my 2003 ES it told you how to get the windshield wipers out of the rest position by carefully pulling them up, applying about 20 foot pounds of upward pressure. I also was afraid of doing this since the force seemed excessive but I did it anyway. Sure enough the blades now were about 2" above rest position and I could change the blades because they were not blocked by the hood. On the older ES's(I think '92 to '94), you have to move the electrical contact under the hood to a different position. I never bothered to do this on my '94, but I turned off the ignition key when they were in the position I wanted so I could change the blades or wipe them off with a rag.:) Alan
  10. Awhile ago I did a pretty thorough search of the internet looking for cast iron or plastic models of Lexus ES's of any year and I came up with zero hits. I received emails from some of biggest sellers and they told me that these model cars were never produced. I guess there wasn't a big enough market. Too bad, I would have bought one and I guess a lot of the guys here would also. B) Alan
  11. Steve Don't forget that your Navigation system will need to be recalibrated if you put on these new wheels. ;) Alan
  12. Great!!! I'll be awaiting your response. :D :D :D :D :D Alan
  13. Crutchfield has an excellent selection of replacement speakers. www.crutchfield.com Alan
  14. Hi Zeta, The main purpose in trying to link interested members is to get the word out about this tranny problem so Lexus gets their !Removed! in gear and comes up with a fix. ;) Alan
  15. Matthew Thanks very much for clearing up this matter. I sure didn't want to make waves, especially since I'm a new member of this board. I'm also an Administrator of Vaio VillageMy Webpageand I know these situations arise on occasion. I'd like to be an asset to Lexus Owners Club. Alan P.S. I hope you don't mind my putting in a plug for Vaio Village. Our membership is about to reach 5000 members and our purpose is to help Sony & other owners who might be having computer problems. If you have a chance, give it a look. :)
  16. I wasn't trying to direct people away but I was only trying to help each other the best way I could do, and that's giving them a link to make it easier for them to get their needed information. It's a shame that these two sites can't co-exist without animosity. I really wasn't aware of this so I'll remember this in the future. :( Alan
  17. You're not alone. This website does not allow me to put in a link to Club Lexus, so you'll have to find it on your own. It's under the ES300 Forum- Engine and Transmission Section.- '03 Transmission. Alan P.S. Can any of the Moderators from this site tell me why I can't put in the proper link to Club Lexus so the above gentleman can read the thread??? The link changes from club lexus to cublexus. Is there a reason for this little game????
  18. The 5 speed transmission on my new '03 seems a little strange. If I drive about 35mph and then slow down to about 5mph and than try to accelerate there is a hesitation. It's as if the transmission can not decide on what gear to go into. When it finally does there's a slight lurch forward. Can this be adjusted? Alan
  19. Simply put: If you drive a car hard it stands to reason that the parts will not last as long. Doing this, 1, 2, Drive is not considered normal driving. :) Alan
  20. Neil: If you want to shift from 1 to 2 to Drive constantly I don't think it's going to do the transmission any good. If you want to do this for extreme acceleration on a steady basis, I definitely feel that'll shorten the transmissions useful life. Alan
  21. The following quote is from Lexus Corporation concerning the 1999 and above models Of ES300's. Alan
  22. Sorry, you are very wrong about that!! Naturally the lower gear you have your shift selector set to the more engine braking you'll feel, but you still have some braking in Drive position. ;) Alan
  23. You're getting into a bad habit by driving your car this way! Firstly, it's not good for the transmission because the clutches are engaging and disengaging constantly so naturally these parts will wear more quickly. Secondly, it's dangerous to have your car free wheeling in neutral while decelerating since you don't have the engine braking to help stop the car. Think about it......brake parts are cheaper than transmission parts! :) Alan

  25. My past experience with my Lexus dealer has shown that certain repairs such as putting in new brakes did not cost me more than 2X as much as other repair shops. This also holds true with normal maintenance like oil, transmission and coolant changes. I also have the peace of mind that the work has been done by qualified mechanics. I think that 3-4 times the price of their repairs is excessive. :) Alan
