  1. Hello, anyone? guess not? I'll take a shot at this for you. My experience with surround sound, is that no two people will have any thing close to a similar opinion. It is entirely up to your ear. If you like the effect of the expansion of the room it gives then go for it. And, as you say, that effect will either enhance or diminish your listening experience based solely on the type, style and passage of music your listening to. Personally, I feel it gives most of my music an artificial quality. Paul
  2. I can see your point. However, in this case, it was the first thing in the morning, the car had never been started, the "keys"/FOB had never been inside the car. And the car had not been locked over night, so the FOB had not been used to unlock the doors. I think If we can't figure it out, I'll go to the dealer just for fun and ask them. I bet they don't know either! As for the Key-keyless issue...count me in your column! I love just leaving my FOB in my pocket and walking up to the car and voila, it opens. Same with starting. So easy. My wife's 07', S80-Volvo has an FOB that must be inserted in a slot first (it has to be seated just right) and then you depress the brake and push the start button. This sequence is a major PIA. I too am Spoiled.
  3. Good question, but no, I hadn't started the car yet. ?
  4. Welcome to the LOC. Nice LS. Paul
  5. I'm not very familar with the Nakamichi units, but there is a great deal of information available on this site. It's a very common question and I would suggest doing a search to find some information to get you started. I bet there will be others who will chime in here. Another resource is a member named "dcfish". He often has whole units and parts for Nakamichi and Pioneer. PM him for help. Aftermarket is also a popular way to go as long as you don't mind loosing the stock look. Paul
  6. TA makes some good points. The only thing I would add is that since you paid for a problem that was not fixed, the dealership should cover some of whatever cost there might be to fix the actual problem. i.e., reduced labor or waived labor. I know that is the case with my dealer. It doesn't cost to ask. Paul
  7. Fox Marketing has modified a CT200h to 300hp and enhanced the batteries. Cool paint project. Video attached. http://www.autoblog.com/2011/04/25/fox-marketing-supercharges-the-lexus-ct-200h-w-video/?icid=main%7Chtmlws-main-w%7Cdl11%7Csec3_lnk1%7C211534
  8. Dedicated Member 30-November 09 Gender:Male Car Model:2010 ES 350 Location:Des Moines IA Posted 27 April 2011 - 09:24 PM This question is a little different. This morning I opened the passenger front door for my wife and shut it after she was in. (The keys were in my pocket the whole time.) As soon as I started walking around the car to the drivers side the car beeped 3 times and then stopped before I got in the drivers seat. Same thing but this time, I opened the trunk, put in the groceries, closed the trunk lid, and the car beeped the same 3 times as I was walking around to the drivers door. Again, FOB was in my pocket. Any ideas as to the purpose of these beeps? Paul 2010 - ES350
  9. Automakers answer why they won't let your passenger use the nav. while in motion. Also, possilbe new Federal reg. regarding this. 10. Frankly, I'm surprised that someone in the automotive press hasn't been fed some garbage like that disguised as a competitors press release.

  12. You can bet that all the Lexus related people who get paid by commission will have a very scary spring/summer. In addition, you can bet the German competitors will jump on this with both feet and come out with all kinds of promotions, i.e., "Our cars don't glow in the dark!" LOL
  13. Welcome as well. Keep us updated with pics. Paul
  14. Mark Templin, Lexus group leader, says inventory is now down to a month and then a week's worth. Lexus is asking dealers not to gouge returning lease owners this year. http://www.autoblog.com/2011/04/26/lexus-boss-templin-says-brand-to-lose-luxury-sales-crown-over-ja/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+weblogsinc%2Fautoblog+%28Autoblog%29
  15. Using only my personal experience, it is the dark, deep color dyed jeans that are the worst, but the mid-color dyes can transfer a little as well. If you have been wearing pre-washed jeans with no troubles I certainly wouldn't stop. The stains are removable so don't be afraid of a light colored interior. Paul
  16. One other problem I've run across that seems to have no solution, is the transfer of black dye from a leather jacket to the armrest. Specifically, on light colored leather interiors, the jackets sleeve for example, will transfer dye to the drivers armrest and it can not be removed. It is not a large deep stain, but it is there for sure. I have talked to two detailers, a leather clothes cleaner, and the folks at Leatherique cleaning products. The armrest has to be re-dyed. I have not done this, but my understanding is that it is not a big job. Many dealers will have these guys come to their stores and touch-up leather in pre owned cars. And no, it doesn't make any difference how expensive the jacket is. Paul
  17. Very cool stuff! You mentioned Social Security numbers.....ahhh......there was that little piece of time between 01' and 04' ...well..I meant to file a 1040 return, but there was a small problem with my funds in the Caymans and one thing lead to another.....and...well...ah...you probably know all this. And we can activate your webcam to see what you are doing! Paul...the pink panties have scarred me for life... :) :) Everything was in the laundry and my wife's was all I could find!.....honest!!..no kidding!?
  18. Welcome Ondray to the LOC. We hope you enjoy it and find the expertise you need here. Paul
  19. Short article and Photos of Black Series c-63 AMG. http://www.autoblog.com/2011/04/25/rumormill-mercedes-benz-c63-amg-black-series-coupe-to-get-507-h/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+weblogsinc%2Fautoblog+%28Autoblog%29
  20. LOL!!...aren't you sorry you asked for others opinions? LOL. Now it's down to your either too young or too old for a particular car. I've got an idea that works every time. Consider every ones advice carefully. Drive the car overnight. Then, chuck all the advice and buy the one that YOU like! We are not the one driving it or PAYING for it. You'll never regret it. Even if your too young for it, or too old. Paul
  21. I have an ES and have driven an IS more than once, and the "bulge" or hump that protrudes into the drivers right leg is really uncomfortable. It diminishes the drivers leg room by quite a bit.
  22. But...I'm confused..you just said the this advancement will "ever" happen, and then you say it probably won't. So what is your stand? (Or are you practicing on running for some political office?) ....Sorry, I couldn't resist the chance to pimp you! LOL!!! IMHO, Combustion technology is over for just the sheer sake that the technology is unsustainable. Specifically, the diminishing combustible resources, i.e., continuing degrading air quality(particularly in China, India, and Russia), increasing cost of ownership of transportation vehicles, and the ever insatiable appetite around the world for more oil for combustion engines with no way to continue to supply that demand. Now, someone at this point stands up and says, "If "They" would let us drill anywhere we like there would be enough oil for fifty years, maybe one hundred years." Someone else says, "No, much to risky", "We need to Fracture shale and then, regardless of the consequences. there would definitely be enough gas for a hundred years." "Wait, Nuclear power is by far the best LONG term answer. No Pollution, no emissions, quiet, no drilling." As you stated Car manufacturers are putting their money into battery technology, electric motor efficiency, hydrogen(?) and other what used to be considered "On the shelf" technology. The tech stuff is good and needed and some is being adopted by us, the public, a little at a time. In my small mind is the question, "Will we, as the driving public, be able and/or willing to adapt and adopt new technologies that replace unsustainable combustion engines with replacement methods that may not offer 300+ horsepower or zero-60 in 7 seconds." Or is it really important that a IS250 do zero-60 in ? or a BMW in ? seconds. How much horsepower is actually needed in the most often sold Lexus? I don't know the answer, I am asking for the readers opinion. Do you agree- disagree- or have your own opinion? Paul
  23. The only SAFE and WORRY free way to clean your leather is to use a professional detailer. Others will tell you to use certain cleaners and home made concoctions, and that is fine. As long as you know the chemical composition of every stain you will come across and how and at what rate it will or will not absorb into your leather, and what chemical will conteract those chemicals without leaving it's own stain. From my experience, I have made enough mistakes to have learned my lesson well. Most of the time, a detailer will only cost you from $25-$40. to remove and condition small areas. Are you going to ruin the seats of a $45,000 car over that? One common problem on light colored leather seats in all car makes today is dye transfer from blue jeans. It usualy shows around the edge of the seat where you slide in and out of the car. I have read on the forum recently that this can not be removed. That is false. I stop by my detailer every couple of months, and he uses one of his cleaners to wipe it off. Charge?...$5.00. Paul
