onlybyhisgrace Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 Hi, The car I am looking at buying is dark blue, the owner called it Aztec blue. I am wondering if this is a factory color since I have never seen it before? Plus it has gray leather interior. Also, the stock wheels have been chromed and I was wondering what that might do to the value of the car? Thanks for your help, Brad
dro Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 Inside the drivers door jam, there is a label. Under the barcode you will find the the following: cr/tr : xxx/zzz the xxx represents the color code of your car. You can go to your dealer and they will tell you what the name is. If your car has had a color change, this code will do you no good, but any competent bodyshop can tell you if the car has been completely repainted with a different color/shade. Regarding the chromed wheels: They were optional equipment. Hope this helps
bean_8044 Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 For that year there was a Cobalt Blue Metallic and a Dark Blue Gray Metallic. Not sure where the Aztec Blue came from, but it may be the Cobalt. Thats as per Shwerin-Williams paint code finder
onlybyhisgrace Posted May 26, 2004 Author Posted May 26, 2004 Thanks for the replies, I hope we can agree on a price. I'll have to check the door jam for the color code. Thanks, Brad
mktbully Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 8J5 should be the paint code. i thought it was called Midnight Indigo Pearl Clearcoat
bean_8044 Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 It is completely possible that Sherwin-Williams has the paint listed as a different title. It is their paint after all although its supposed to be color matched
93LSOwner Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 Give the Lexus dealers the VIN # and they will tell you whats the original color of the car. I think you can just call them and get the answer.
