wwest
I heard that gates traded in his 90 LS for a 94 to get dual airbags so his new wife was also protected.

90LS400Lexus
Yes, 1993 was the first year. It is interesting that Lexus was a little behind its competetors (Luxury imported makes) with the passenger side airbag. Mercedes had passenger side airbag as early as 1989 (but it was a much more expensive car than the Lexus in 1990). Acura Legend had a passenger airbag as early as 1992. While not an import- Lincolns had a passenger side airbag as a option as early as 1990. As a side note- also 1993 was the year that Lexus added larger brakes, digital odometer and I think larger tires as well.
