Trunk trouble

Recommended Posts

So the trunk is crazy. It stopped working the other day we managed to pop it open with the key but now after a few battery resets and no obd2 codes it won't open but once when the ecu is reset. It opens fine pops and everything but once it gets all the way open I can watch the latch act like it thinks it's closed. I've looked around and the system works on its own power going up and holds closed. The latch itself goes thru its full range of motion when it's open.

I closed it at the right time in one of its cycles so it would stay closed now nothing short of the key and a good tug will get it opened. That or resetting the ecu by pulling the battery terminal for a one shot pop.

I've seen a lot about the power going out and it just being a key trunk but mine seems to think it's closed when it's opened. And the cluster doesn't tell me when it's open except immediately after a ecu reset and trunk button press.

I don't wanna just throw 350 at a latch assembly to test if that's it. Does anyone have any other ideas suggestion that may be helpful? Thanks.

Cheers.

Yeah but it's not just shut down and not being electric. Its like thinking it's closed when it's opened and the power stuff still works just not after it realizes it's dumb... im going to look at that plastic piece in the next day or two but I don't think it's that...

Thank you though if it is that having that posted here will be a big help.
