Mack Brown
The "auto" mode on my headlight switch is, I believe, angry with me and not working properly. Several times the headlights have gone during a night drive with the "auto mode" on. Turning the switch to "Off" and then to "On" seems to work fine.. All bulbs are functioning just fine. Anyone know where the problem is? Night driving w/o headlights is a real pain! Thanks in advance.
1990LS400
That's scary - reminds me when the "Lucas, Prince of Darkness" headlights on my Triumph Spitfire convertible failed on a dark country road back in the 60's. I held a flashlight over the windshield to get home. Maybe the light level sensor on your dashboard is defective. I don't remember anyone ever posting a similar problem. These systems seem to be very reliable and have never failed in our Lexus and Toyota vehicles.
Mack Brown
Your Lucas Spitfire and my Godzilla Lexus must be kinfolks. Thanks for the idea. I will test your theory this morning by covering/uncovering the dashboard sensor.
