JSchnoor Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 We recently bought a used 2007 GX 470 a month ago. We have noticed twice now that the front passenger floor board is damp occasionally. Any idea as to what could be causing this? Anything in particular to check under the hood? Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance!
eugene.s Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 JSchnoor, I wouldn't expect anything under the hood but would check two things: 1) that the car has not been drown (e.g. via Carfax, Carcheck, etc.) 2) that the driver door assembly is OK. The easiest would be to check that everything which is there between the front passenger door and the trim is in place between the driver door and the trim. In particular, there's some plastic part between a door and trim -- if the door was repaired but the part was not installed, you will exactly get the floor wet and it would not be unusual to see a lot of ice/snow in the door clearance.
13IS250C Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I always think heater core. Does the water have a smell? 1
sha4000 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Pour some water on the sunroof and see if it leaks. Maybe the sunroof drain hose is clogged up.
13IS250C Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 That's a good idea. Maybe go through a touchless car wash with a passenger and look like crazy at all openings while the water is spraying hard.
RudyZ Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Had a similar problem with a used Navigator that I purchased. Went through all the prior recommended troubleshooting. No luck. Went to an automobile glass business in town. They popped the surround trim and inspected the sealing bead on the windshield perimeter. Whoever had replaced the windshield prior to my ownership did a poor job of sealing the glass. Couldn't repair so a replacement windshield did the trick for me. Good luck.
hankinid Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 If it's water and not coolant, I would suspect a blocked A/C drain. 1
LXPearl Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 I had a similar problem that turned out to be a leak from the A/C coil housing along a seam of the housing. I sealed it with tape, and it stopped the leak.
AamirS Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Recently bought 2005 LX470, wife complained of water drop while driving and a/c on. Replaced a/c filter and cleared a/c drain. 1
