bagofchips Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 Anybody know the mfr-prescribed torque to apply to the oil drain plug on an RX300? Thx
monarch Posted April 13, 2004 Posted April 13, 2004 It's not real critical. Just moderately snug is sufficient. Error on the loose side rather than on the tight side. It's much more important to be meticulous about not getting dirt into the engine when changing the oil and filter. So wipe the oil filler cap, filler opening, dipstick tube and dipstick cap clean of all accumulated dirt so that none accidentally falls into the engine.
tds Posted April 18, 2004 Posted April 18, 2004 Clean and install the oil drain plug with a new gasket (important) and torque to: 45 N-m, 460 kgf.cm, 33 ft-lbf (take your pick ) fyi: Drain and refill... Thanks.
steviej Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 All RX300 and 330 use gasket# 90430-12031 $0.75 each here: http://www.irontoad.com/Merchant2/merchant..._Code=1999rx300 given shipping costs, it may be cheaper to just get these at you dealership. steviej
