RColbert
Please help me. My AC Unit simply doesn't work in my 1993 Lexus SC300. It runs great otherwise, but does anyone have any quick remedies besides replacing the entire unit. Please help
JDOwen2
One possibility is a simple recharge. But that begs the question: Why did it leak?
Ebonixx
In the same boat, same car and year, my AC stopped working. Been waiting till it got hot to get it fixed. Let me know what the problem is with yours if u go to get it fixed. thanks Eb
RColbert
Actually, it never leaked, at least as far as I know. I was driving down the street when it simply would not start, no air, no indication that it even has air. When I press the button for the A/C control, it does nothing whatsoever. It almost appears to have been disconnected or shorted out or something. If it's a fuse, I'm not sure where or what to check, because there seems to be no fuse for the A/C. please help!! :)
sightdev
Just as question, did you turn the fan on first before pushing the A/C button? Since you said no air at all, your A/C will not come on without a fan running. If your fan doesn’t come on, check for blown fuse, and if fan works and don’t hear the A/C clutch engage, check your A/C relay. If A/C clutch engages but no cold air, good chance you have no/low gas. I think up to ’94 used the older type, which will require gas exchange ($150-200). A/C is a simple unit so if one is not familiar with the system, takes it to any reputable shop. arabian
Had the same problem. My first question is does anything work? Heat etc? No power whatsoever? If so, then it was the same problem I had. Check the cigarette lighter for a coin inside. It's a blown fuse. If not the case please disregard all I said and it's a new wrinkle in the brain. RColbert
Thank you all! I think it's the cigarette lighter. I dropped a magnetic pen in the lighter reservior by accident and it didn't work after that. Do I just replace the fuse for the cigarette lighter from the fuse box under the hood? RColbert
Thank you folks, I found the fuse and the A/C is back workin'!! :)
Mikesc300
My problem on my 92 sc300 acoording to the lexus dealer is the ac clutch. The fan goes on but it never gets cold, do I have to change the clutch or will getting a recharge help for the moment.
RColbert
It sounds to me like, if the Dealer is correct, that a recharge won't work, and indeed you'll have to replace the clutch.
