Hid Headlights Bulb Or Ballast?

I have a 2000 LS 400 M, with factory HID headlights, The Drivers side is no longer working, here is the thing: Whenever a lightbulb burns out the a warning will come on. This time there is nothing showing that the headlamp stopped working I find this odd and I am thinking it could be something other than the HID bulb...Has anyone out there had this problem?

if you still see a burning ember in the center of the bulb the ballast is probably ok. The filament might not be completely shot yet. You might try swapping the two bulbs and see if that makes a difference. If the ballast went I would guess the bulb would not turn on at all.

No filament in an HID bulb...

But I agree, it's likely the bulb...I'd replace both so they match...
