Adamsessor Posted September 7, 2012 Share Posted September 7, 2012 My 1992 lexus sc300 when idleing has a chopping sound onnly for less than the minute but it sounds like the fan or the belt right by the fan rubbig against something maybe? Steve Posted September 11, 2012 Share Posted September 11, 2012 It may be the pre-tensioner bearings are going or gone. if it comes from the front of the engine then it sounds like that.
