NCRon
Now that the neat little sunglasses holder has been removed from the overhead console in the RX model, has anyone found a good place to store their sunglasses? I guess I could figure it out but I am curious what others have done.
RXREY
I was disappointed in that decision as well...I don't need that emergency gizmo...anyway, I am thinking of buying a box or something to keep in that weird space under the center console...what has anyone done with that space? LEXIRX330
Wife's X5 doesn't have one either! :( I have a nice case that came with my Maui Jim's that I keep in the side door compartment...it works but I love my sunglass holder in my GX! LexRexBlue
I learned this hint from another RX forum. Use the handle on the driver's door.
JoeCompute
Yes, a sad decision to drop the holder - but it didn't produce ongoing revenue like the "On-Star" service. We use a soft slide-in sunglass case placed in the side door "pocket". It works well with the large wrap-around cheap sunglasses we keep there. claybarb
Mine snuggle nicely in the cubby hole just behind the window/mirror switches.
RXES
That weird space under the center console is used for time-out .. the kids hate it...LOL
LabluvR
I am surprised that children fit under that space in the center console. I keep my small handbag and sunglasses there.
Lexaggedon
That weird space is also awesome for books on CD cases that I check out from the Library all the time.
VBdenny
My Maui Jim's also stay in the case in the left door pocket. Of course I really do prefer to have them on when driving but....
LEX-SV
My Mercedes and Honda do not have the sunglass case, so I do appreciate the overhead case in my Lexus IS. Since I only wear RayBan sunglasses and if I'm going to leave them in exposed in door pocket or console area, I put them in a cheap glasses case (not the RayBan case) for security reasons. pj8708
Just discovered the "buried treasure" place in the bottom of our 2013 RX console. What do you use the third little compartment for which opens in the front of the secret compartment? Paul
VBdenny
Well I suppose there are many things that could be stored there
pj8708
Thanks Denny. Your a fountain of knowledge!!! LOL I guess it could be used to store your Big Mac when you go out for lunch. You could use it to store a spare iPhone so you'll always be just a few inches away from pulling up the latest post on your LOC! Personally, I'll use mine to hide my gold Rolex. It is a gorgeous piece of functionality and craftsmanship; and the man in the alley verified that is was absolutely 18K gold. It is one of my most loved possession, all though some people chuckle under their breath when I tell them about it. ? Paul

GymW
I found a fabric-based eyeglass case with fabric straps designed for automobile visors. I wanted fabric straps with a light elastic, so that they would do less damage to the visor. Metal clips tend to leave grooves on the visor. It's working fine for me. As for the space underneath the console, it's quite difficult to find a practical use for it. Because of its hard surface, water bottles flight around, as well as anything else you put on it. I have no idea what the designers had in mind for it, but it certainly is not very practical. For some reason they also put an accessory plug in the front of it. Sort of a weird place to place and accessory plug.
Preacherbroad
A nice pull-down plastic holder can be purchased from Amazon or ebay that replaces the handle on the roof above the door. It's a simple installation - pop off the handle, pop on a lined holder. Look on Amazon for this: Moonlinks Sunglasses Holder Compatible with Lexus. Make sure you get the one that fits your model year. I just purchased from eBay. Beige, black and brown are available.
