steviej Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 In a recent car mag. I saw a Lexus advertisement that talked of a new car coming this summer from Lexus having to do with the 8th letter of the alphabet. Am I to assume that Lexus is making a play in the Hybrid market? anyone? steviej
SKperformance Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 I don't know a thing, never saw it. But then again us stupid Canadians didn;t even have the new GS at our Auto show for some damn reason, I was so *BLEEP*ed today to not see it there. But they did have an IS with a custom turbo just for show .
SW03ES Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Yep, the new RX400H hybrid. A really cood ad actually...
wolfie212003 Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 I saw something on the news last week about the Chicago auto show. They were talking about the new Lexus RX hybrid. It looked pretty sweet. I wonder how powerful it'll be though.
steviej Posted February 18, 2004 Author Posted February 18, 2004 I download the New York Times to my PDA and read it on the commute to work. Today there was a story about Hybrid hitting the SUV market and my answer was there. Lexus is breaking in to the market with the RX400h. Supposedly 270 hp and some other stuff, including the hybrid technology. Ford will enter with a hybrid version of the Escape and Toyota will offer a Highlander version (same platform as the RX). They did say that the price will be considerably more than the non-hybrid versions. It figures. steviej
Steve@Lextasy.com Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 I heard it will have a front wheel drive powered by electricity and rear wheel drive powered by gasoline and get very good gas mileage while not needing to recharge its batteries. Can't wait.
99lsguy Posted February 28, 2004 Posted February 28, 2004 It's in the latest issue of the LEXUS magazine......just a little write up though..
