I have a 94 SC-400 with 111k on it owned for 2 yrs

My tranny was shuttering slightly until my local garage used a additive??

It helped for about 3k mi Now the Shutter is back.

And It's getting worse!

What is the "Shutter"? and will a fluid flush solve the problem?

Thank-You for any help

hmmm... the trans shop probably just added a conditioner in the trans to soften up all of the seals in the trans and if that worked for 3000 miles then use it again like an oil change  but eventualy your trans will probably go out meaning big big bucks.

does the shutter come from inside the tranny? it woudlnt be the mounts since some additives just fixed it for temporary.

well I was corrected! It's a shudder not shutter lol

I hapens only some of the time and it's only for a half a second usually

when the car is about to downshift.

I'm gonna start by flushing the fluid.

Have your mechanic drop the pan and flush out the metal filter as well. Make sure he uses only Toyota T-IV if it's an SC4 or 98-up SC3, otherwise it's Dexron III. If the problem persists it's possible the converter is weak, it can happen in these cars.
