averona Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 My lexus/toyota specialist changed my fan clutch, and now the engine has a much more powerful sounding roar. Is that normal? He says it's air movement that wasn't happening before because the fan wasn't engaging. 95LS400

They likely put a tow package fan clutch on which never seems to stop engaging. When I compared the 2 they were different. One had much bulkier spring assembly. The tow one also impacts fuel economy.

What country are you in? There was never a "tow package" available for any LS here in the USA although there was in many other countries. I doubt if any sort of "tow package" fan clutch would be available here.

I encountered the same thing in March of this year.
