SLVRbullet Posted March 10, 2003 Posted March 10, 2003 I'm a new member to this site now that I just purchased a pre-owned 1999 GS400. Quick question: My GS did not come with a facory spoiler and want to know if anyone here has any experience (good/bad) with aftermarket OEM rear spoilers. They also offer pre-painted ones based on the color code of the vehicle and costs about half as much as getting it done at the dealer. Thanks for your feedback, and I looking forward to being a part of this forum in the future.
Matthew_McNally Posted March 10, 2003 Posted March 10, 2003 The guys sponsoring the site at the moment do GS spoilers. Lextasy.com GS Grills and Spoilers page is that any use?
SLVRbullet Posted March 10, 2003 Author Posted March 10, 2003 thanks for the link...lots of good products on lextacy as well. But I'd still like to know if you'd recommend over a factory install. thanks...
zeta Posted March 10, 2003 Posted March 10, 2003 there really shouldn't be much of a difference. try and check the part #'s they use. if the aftermarket OEM part has a very similar part #, it should be good. just make sure it's installed well. if it's installed a bit to the side, then it will look really wierd, and you'll have holes when you reattach it.
vshifrin Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 I purchased an aftermarket spolier off of Ebay, which I also had professionally installed . Total cost = $310. I would advise against it especially if it is made from plastic/plastic composite. The spolier looks just like OEM but it fibrates significantly with every bump and closing of the trunk. The orginal Lexus spoliers shouldn't shake as much.
