PureDrifter Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Nitrogen gas under high pressure!!! :o :o :o What is it and what it does? Thanks post a part no.
jcrome04 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 There was a thread on this same part a while back... I think it has something to do with a safety feature of the brakes... I THINK I can' remember very well so don't quote me on that. Searching for "nitrogen canister" should yield some results.
AzHotLS Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I think it has something to do with a safety feature of the brakes... I THINK You are correct. It's a..... Brake Traction Accumulator Assembly http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_1991_LEXU...GKA_4708.5.html
91LS400pilot Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 Valued at over $700 too! Wow, really expensive. I was wondering if anybody has changed this part.

Brake Traction Accumulator Assembly http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_1991_LEXU...GKA_4708.5.html Note that this is only for cars with traction control. My '91 does not have it, even though it has ABS.
steve2006 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Valued at over $700 too! Wow, really expensive. I was wondering if anybody has changed this part. I posted this on the UK site a while ago as I have an imported JDM LS400 ( Celsior) and it has this to operate the traction control ( well apply the brakes to the rear wheels). As you can imagine it has a lot of pressure in there to operate the brake hydraulics so please don't mess with it unless you know what you are doing. Providing you don't have the trac light flashing ( i.e in use all the time) the canister should last the life of the car. In snow I turn my trac off as it makes little difference to grip and doesn't use up the gas needlessly. Apparently there are specialists that can refill the cylinder if needed but the trac light should come on to indicate a fault should it run empty.
