2001-gs300
I bought used 2001GS300 with 87000 miles in it. I love my car overall, but when I was on the beltway driving at 60mph and brake slightly, my car started to vibrate. Anyone know what happened to my car? I am looking forward to hearing from you guys. PS. I am living in Silver Spring, MD so could you guys can tell me where is a good independent service for Lexus in MD? Have a nice day

Have a nice day Welcome to the club! Sounds like a high point on the disc or a warped disc. Jack it up and spin the wheels to find the prob. You'll feel and hear the high point or where the warped portion contacts the pads. If it's not too bad, machine them, otherwise replace. That usually solves the problem on our cars... for some reason GS rotors are prone to warping in my experience. I replaced mine with an aftermarket cryogenics treated rotor and I have not had anymore warping... however sometimes worn control arm bushings can cause other vibrations. p.s. I've been lucky so far with my rotors but I recommend OEM or brembo rotors if you need to replace.

2001-gs300
I went to lexus silver spring dealer to have oil changed and they said that I have to pay 780$ for replacing front brake rotors and pads. I think it's very expensive. I am thinking about buying parts and let independent shop replace it for me. I don't know whether it is good or not? Could you guys inform me where should I buy these parts? Have a great day
steerpike
Just replaced my front rotors and pads. About $250 in parts from one of the discount Lexus sites - I used Irontoad. Took about 1-1/2 hours to do and I wasn't rushing. Brakes feel great now.

alphanumberz
You probably need to RESUrFACE your rotors, or maybe bleed brake sys.
