NEBCO
i am installing new trunk lifts for my lexus. each one needs to be squeezed down about an inch so it will fit on the knobs. I know it can be done because the trunk does it every time it closes, but how do i do it? i believe the instructions say it can be done by hand. bt3100
You could use bar clamps... Good luck with the repair!
Step Hen
Read closer: it CAN'T be done by hand. Only when the seal breaks can you compress the lift support by hand. Are you sure you got the correct part/size?
JENunnez
Like Step Hen said it can ot be done by hand. When the piston is fully extended that should be the max, or a little less than the trunk or hood fully open. Check to see if you have the right parts. NEBCO
Definitely most likely the wrong parts sir! THANKS FOR all the input. it turns out that when i took both old lifts off, i was able to force the trunk lid further open, allowing just enough more space to finish the job, which was very easy, once i solved that problem.
