SOMEONE ELSE'S GOT MY NAME Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Here's the concept to end all concepts. A GM ad, from the pages of a 1969 "Boys Life" Magazine. I'm certain GM would rather NOT remember how many years this ad shows that GM pee pee'd away their technology lead. Or, put another way . . . it shows how many years GM has NOT been able to deliver: http://usera.imagecave.com/w4abj/HybridStu...el-Lec-1969.jpg Had they delivered, they Lexus/Toyota hybrids would have just been 'Johny-come-lately's. (shaking head) In stead, GM focused on quick quarterly profits. Now, on the verge of bankruptcy, the exec's who made dumb decisions (like buying the HUMMER line) ought to be in hiding. Most concepts end up to be dorky when you look back at them 2 or 3 decades later. But on this one here? No. what a pity.
eatingupblacktop Posted October 15, 2008 Author Posted October 15, 2008 That's one design among dozens I'm sure that have been bought up by Big Oil throughout the decades. It would be interesting to live another 100 years to find out what the underpinnings to the economy/technology are today - what kind of action happens behind the scenes - who are the players. If I'm still around then, you can be assured that I'll report back to all of you what I find out.
eatingupblacktop Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 I found this the other day and thought it could expand the scope of this topic. I think historic or classic concepts would be an interesting and fun addition here. I'm sure there are plenty of them. The question is how many can we find? So here's my first one from 1935:
