Looking To Be A Gs300 Owner Very Soon

Recommended Posts

I had a extended warranty on my Jeep and that paid for itself 3 times over. I also had extended warranty on one Lexus and one Toyota, I made one $800 claim between the 2 of them.

because ya get what ya pay for.....Jeeps have no where the reliability of Toyota or Lexus.

exactly what I am saying. How much did you pay for both extended warranties for the Lex and Toyo?

Way more than $800, right.

I am definitely considering buying a 2006 GS300. I just love this body style and the ride is so smooth. I was not looking to buy a car now, but the one I have, Lincoln LS 2001 is trash now.I have always taken good care of my vehicles-I should have gotten rid of it 3 yrs ago when it started giving me major problems. Well anyway, I have to buy a car because I need one and I might as well get something I really like. I live in a city where there is only one Lexus dealership. GS300-Cannot get a good deal from them on a CPO-they only have 3 anyway and I really didn't like the colors . So, I have been on the internet browsing for the GS300. I've seen several on Carmax.com and the prices I think are good-$33,998 25-27K miles. I would have to get the car transferred to the nearest Carmax location which is in Jackson, MS. Would you recommend Carmax? Any advice? Can I negotiate with Carmax? Can I buy the extended warranty from Lexus? The warranty at Carmax is 50k. An extended warranty is also offered.

Thanks

do NOT go to carmax

I just got a used off-lease GS 300 awd from AutoLenders. They were quite decent, as car dealers go. Tons of ultra clean off-lease high end cars. Don't know if they are in your area. I would have preferred RWD, but this one came up with only 20k in the color combo I wanted. It's got nav, Mark L, etc.. everything except radar cruise and parking sensors.

It's great, maybe a little dull after the novelty of all the toys wears off. I'm getting around 25mpg, amazing for a 3700 luxury awd car with decent power. Every review of the GS 300 (only made for 2006, then they came out with the GS 350) whines that there's not enough grunt off the line. I disagree. With premium over $4/gal. I'll take a small 3.0 and 25 mpg. It's faster than most cars, just don't go picking on M35's or 5 series.

just dont buy from carmax.

Don't limit the geography of your search. Use Autotrader, Ebay, etc... I searched nation-wide for my GS-430. I live in the Dallas area and bought my car from a used car dealer in New Jersey with only 1300 miles. Of course, I did all the background checking I could on the car, had the dealer send me copies of the title (front and back) and I inspected the car personally. I flew one way to NJ, paid the guy, and enjoyed a hell of a drive home (another 1300 miles). Got a great deal and had a little sense of adventure. (This is an adventure for a thirty something married guy with kids). Got a couple of days on the open highway to "get acquainted". Think bigger. You'll find a better deal.

Looks like the certified 06 GS300s are listed on AutoTrader for around $35k. Most have around 25-30k miles on them. No navigation or any of the real upgrades. I don't like the rims on the RWD model, and would like to get the GS430 5 spoke. With that in mind, how much room do you think I might have on the $35k price? I guess they'd have to upgrade both the rims and tires from the stock 17s right?

I just got my '06 gs 300 awd with 20k, for $35,500. Mint, cant tell from new. It's got nav/Mark L. , adaptive headlights, rear sunshade, moonroof, DVD system, backup camera, headlamp washers, etc etc Everything except radar cruise and parking sensors.

New this was over 50k just a year and a half ago.

I believe the factory warranty is 5yrs 70k on powertrain but check with a dealer to confirm.... i'd also recommend running a carfax report and avoiding AWD models which according to consumer reports have shown to be trouble prone... I suggest reading through the GS section and posting there with follow up questions if any.

Greetings-

Finally, I just purchased a gs 300 2006 in mint condition from a dealer last Friday. I paid 34k for mine-no trade-in. Gold color, cashmere interior, 23,000 miles, NAV, backup camera, satelite ready, bluetooth, rear screen, heated/air conditioned seats, sunroof, spoiler, etc. My credit union even told me I had a great deal. The car looks like new off the show room floor. I am really enjoying my car. I plan to have it for a long while! I usually average 8-10 years keeping a car.

I will get e4xtended warranty from Toby in Shreveport, La. Thanks to all of you for your help!

Any major issues to watch out for on the 06 since it was the first production year for the new body style? I didn't realize this car gets such great gas mileage!

yeah, it really does in the real world too. I get 29-30 highway on my gs300 awd. That's with mostly going 55-65 on cruise where i could.

city is ok, drops down to 22 or so. so i try to just save it for big highway runs and roll in my old civic si for around town which does 27 city.

Very handsome automobile, good quiet ride, good gas mileage.... All the reasons I purchased my 07 GS350. But, not a lot of attention to details in these vehicles. Nor are they the best Luxury Sedan in the stable for the money you will spend. Check out the Acura RL... It is a MUCH better vehicle. No question about it. Only problem with it is its uninspired exterior design.

RL is a very good deal, the depreciate dramatically. You could get a low miles 06 for well under $30,000. but that's the problem, no one wants them. I tested a couple, i dont agree that it's MUCH better.

the interior on the GS is much more subtle, elegant. The RL does have a lot more power (well, compared to my GS300 but your 350 is about equal) but it's a real guzzler actually, at 16/24.

Direct Injection injection rules in the GS.

try Autolenders.com, if you live in NJ. They have more returned lease GS's than anyone else. If you look hard enough you can find a Loaded GS 300 awd, including ML and nav for around $35-36 with under 30,000 miles. One guy here said he got such a car for like $31,000, but on the interwebs everyone always gets a better deal than you.

anywhoo, i paid $35,500 for an O6 GS 300 awd with ML / nav / rain sensing / rear sunshade / afs / heated vented etc etc, every option except radar cruise / parking sensors (i dont think 300s have it)

consider that a year and a half ago this thing stickered for $50,000. No one buys them.

Yea I was trying to stay around $30k, so the GS350s would me put well over that. I have found a private party GS with the 18" 5 spoke w/ Bridgstone Potenzas on for $34,250. No nav, or ML stereo system. 25,500 miles. All maint done at the local lexus dealer. Fair price?

No, it should have ML / Nav for that price. That's a dealer price, private party shouldn't get more than $28k for a stripper GS like that.
