Cost Of Trunk Strut?

Left trunk strut of our 2000 RX300 just failed.

Anyone know how much to replace it?

Would it matter if I take it to Toyota? Cost difference?

Your help would be appreciated.

The part will probably cost the same either way. The Labor rate at the Lexus dealer may be a bit more though. Expect to pay $165.00 to $190.00 for the part at the dealer.

I'm trying to see if I can find the part from an auto parts store.

It doesn't seem complicated to replace.

Any suggestions on vendors who might have the part?

Is the installation simple?

Do you simply remove the bolts on the existing strut and then install the new strut using the oem bolts?

Every thing is included and the whole thing takes less than 30 minutes. I believe I did use the existing bolts. But the brackets on the new struts are made to fit our car.

I went ahead and did the "Buy Now" for the struts.

About $66 bucks for the pair.

I'll let you know how the installation goes.
