qha_vn Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 i drove home last night under rain, the car was fine before i ran over a pool of water on the road. just after running over the water, my car did not respond to my acceleration pedal when i stepped on. it just rev up to about 1000+ rpm and no more keeping the car going at 20 miles per hour max. And this symptom just disappeared after 5-10 minutes, everything worked fine after that. i had this problem before when i ran over water the other night but it disappeared in my 2nd step on gas pedal Has someone experienced similar issue? what could be the cause mine is 90 LS400 with 90k miles on it, no engine under cover, TRAC light sometime on but most of the time its off thanks for any idea
etex Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 The cause, apparently, is water getting into places it wouldn't if you had the engine under cover in place. There have been some other posts on the matter, with similar results and causes. Might be tough to find a new one for your model, but I would make an effort - - or try re-cycle places.
qha_vn Posted October 1, 2007 Author Posted October 1, 2007 thanks for the idea, i wish to do a search but have nothing in mind for the key word to try i.e. "water" "under cover" any idea?
SKperformance Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Sounds like you your trac system is locking out the car as it thinkings it is slipping .
qha_vn Posted October 2, 2007 Author Posted October 2, 2007 SK, its also what i suspect, however, i dont know exactly how TRAC works in slippery road condition. would the TRAC really lock out engine when it senses slippery condition?
Jify Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Does the Trac just apply rear brakes to the spinning wheel?
SKperformance Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 I would try hosing one wheel down at a time and them some hard driving to find the corner.
XL2007 Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 Hose down one of your rear wheels with water, then find a hard corner to charge into so you can see if the TRAC is kicking in.
