garbology101 Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 I own an '02 GS300, and I've been dealing with with this rattling sound that occurs seemingly when it wants to. It occurs when I start the vehicle, or when waiting at a red light (sometimes). When I turn on the A/C, same rattle, took it to my mechanic and he removed what I believe to be the cat converter cover and it's still rattles. He told me to bring it back and he would check the exaust. I'm new to the forum and would really appriciate some input or advice, thanks.

I am experiencing a similar problem especially when i want to move like at a red like or just the initial acceleration, but after that everything goes back to normal. Sounds very much like the exhaust rattling... well thats the only thing I can suggest. My silver stallion needs servicing anyways so I intend to wait until after I change the plugs and see if it rides a lot smoother. Please if you get yours fixed, let us know what you did. THANKS
LexusGS400RacerX Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Check your engine mount. I had the same problem with a different car, I had my friend check my car, and he says the engine mount was loose. That might help =]

If it sounds like the rattle is in the dash or near the windshield, have them check, reapply the noise shield under the hood. Had something similar with my GS and that was it. talking about the plastic engine cover under the hood. the attachment in the back corner near the driver seat was loose. just attached with small plastic clips and it was vibrating at certain times

Especially the one around the cat.
