I own a 96' Es300, automatic tranny with 170k miles, the engine has been serviced and runs strong.

However, when I start the car in the morning, it can take as long as 10 minutes before the car will get into drive. The colder the day, the longer it takes before it will drop into drive.

Once it has run for a bit, the car runs and shifts fine.

Can someone please tell me what is causing this, it seems to be getting worse!

Please email me any info you can share!

Thanks!

Same problem with me. It usually only takes a few minutes instead of 10.

Pretty scary.

All I know its it is not the transmission fluid. Had mine flushed and new put in, and same problem.

Check your radiator....trust me.

I checked the radiator, changed the transmission fluid, Nothing!

It seems to be getting worse, I am to the point where I don't want to drive the car unless it is necessary.

Will the transmission eventualy die?

Anyone?

I think what rosey meant by check your radiator is there could be partial clogging going on inside the radiator. Something you can't see just by looking at the fluid level. You might need a new radiator and thermostat.

Either a blockage in the valve body of the rad. Flush the fluid again and add an inline filter from the older tranny thread
