djspawn00 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I went to get an oil change today at a nearby Monro service station. I requested 5w-30, but instead got 5w-20. Is there a big difference? The manager insisted that it would not have an adverse affect. I was running late and did not have any time to argue. Should I do anything or is the 5w-20 ok for my 02 gs300 with 48k miles. I appreciate all the feedback, thanks in advance.
Toysrme Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Yes, it would have an adverse affect on alot of engines. So go back & break his nose. In your case, the JZ blocks were cleared for use with 5w-20 so you should be fine aslong as you change it out on schedule. I would definately change it on schedule. Places like that use junk for oil.
