I recently saw an "Off switch for VDIM" as a feature of the new 2007s on a sheet issued to dealers from Lexus. Has anyone figured out how to do this to the 2006 IS?

Sorry, I should have done a search first. The answer is on this forum.

Hi Jason...

It's been discussed here before but it's buried pretty deep.

1. Make sure the car is in Park and the parking brake is disengaged before you start the car.

2. Start the engine.

3. Engage the parking brake.

4. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.

5. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.

6. Disengage the parking brake.

7. Fully depress and hold down the brake pedal.

8. Engage the parking brake, then disengage it (while holding down the brake pedal).

9. Engage the parking brake, then disengage it (while holding down the brake pedal).

10. Release the brake pedal.

11. Engage the parking brake.

12. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.

13. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.

It will go back to original every time you turn the car off.

You have 30 seconds to do this once you turned the car on.

Here's the thread:

For some reason, I cant seem to get the search feature to work... had to go digging for this. :blushing:

I guess since there is a way to turn it off, no one has bothered to add a switch themselves?

Needing to perform the dance moves on the brake pedals before driving the car seems a bit less convenient than a switch would.

many of you will turn it off, but others like older people would prefer that it would be on...forever...cause it can save their lives :D

There is no switch. Most people that want to turn it off, aren't complaining any more. A switch would be nice, but we live with what we've got.

I guess you'd have to suit yourself on that one.
