bbsal
This has been explained before but no big deal here it is again. All the ect button does is extends the rpms when shifting gears because the real horse power of the car is at the higher rpm.Another words leave it in normal for normal driving and if you feel you are hitting the gas to hard to make it go the speed you want then turn on the power and it will extend the shift so it revs higher before switching gears. You can do the same thing by hitting the gas hard instead of using the power button.hope this helps
zeta
bbsal covered it real well. basically the car's max hp is around the 4400rpm range for the 92-96's. the engine in normal will shift just over 3000 rpm or so. haven't really checked it out. but if you turn it on pwr, it won't shift until maybe 4500-5000rpm. thus letting you grasp the main section of the powerband to help you accelerate. kevin
skeemer
When I give it alot of gas (not flooring it...maybe 3/4 throttle), my tranny shifts at about 5500 w/o the ECT button on. It seems to shift at a lower RPM when I use the button though. Very odd.
chillaxin
so for the 02-03, where's the main powerband rpm located?
