lexus sc300 1992 Does this model year have an interference engine.

If the timing belt goes could there be damage to valves.

I just bought this car privately and the only major maint. not done was the timing belt. I have seen conflicting information as far as this being an interference motor or not. Can someone please clarify??

Most Toyota's dont have a interference motors. Some of the VVTI and VVTI-L motors are but not the older ones. If it's stock the 2JZ-GE and 2JZ-GTE are NOT interference motors.

I am also a new owner of a 1994 SC300 and recall seeing info on this or another SC forum that the I-6 was an interference engine. I believe this link will put that fear to rest. You will not damage the valves on your stock 1992-1997 SC300 or SC400 engine if the timing belt breaks. Timing belt replacement intervals
