  1. After reading your post, I purchased a Toyota filter off Ebay. I had put a Wally World filter in my 1994 SC300 with 17000 miles and felt kind of guilty (actually I believe it was a Fram purchased at Wally World)... Just got back from the garage, and I have to tell you they looked identical.. same color plastic frame, identical construction, filter element looked exact etc... I suppose the Ebay filter could be a Fram loaded into a Toyota box or perhaps one just has to believe that Toyota filtering element is the better material. By the way, I had just clocked in at 25.9 mpg on a 600 mile road trip with the Fram.. But I also believe one cannot go wrong by staying bone stock with factory Toyota/Lexus parts.
  2. I remember a post on this or another board about a plugged water drain line from behind the fuel door. The water from car washes etc. , had gone into the trunk and saturated the carpet under the cd changer resulting in a blown fuse. Might be worth checking....
  3. I can relate... I purchased my 1994 SC300 last month from an elderly woman in Reno. Her husband bought it new at the ripe old age of 82.. Fully documented through Carfax and the Lexus dealer in Reno. 17,510 miles. Always garaged. Perfect condition. $12000 cash. Again right at high retail, but in my mind worth every penny. It has been the most enjoyable car I've owned and believe me, I've had plenty.
  4. I am also a new owner of a 1994 SC300 and recall seeing info on this or another SC forum that the I-6 was an interference engine. I believe this link will put that fear to rest. You will not damage the valves on your stock 1992-1997 SC300 or SC400 engine if the timing belt breaks. Timing belt replacement intervals
