areitu
My 92 LS400 has a bit north of 250k miles on it. Regular oil changes, etc. I was out of the house and my mom took the car out. When she got back, she told me the car started to run oddly and make a "strange noise." I'm not sure what it was, so I hopped into the car and tried to start it. The starter turned over really slowly like it was straining very hard and the car started. Meanwhile, there was a very loud whooshing sound coming from under the hood (Not loud like an exhaust leak, but more like an engine fan but waaaaaaay too loud). I revved the engine a little and it seemed alright. But then I turned the car off and tried to start it again and the engine would barely turn over like it was stuck. The oil and coolant check out, so no blown headgasket. No knocking sounds as far as I can tell. I checked the belts and they checked out as well. Any ideas on what it might be? RFeldes
Turn off the AC and try again. Could be seized compressor ,water pump, alternator or PS pump..
ko90ls
sounds like it may be the battery. did you try and recharge the battery? if so then the real killer is prob the alternator? see what helps and post again! Good Luck!
lexus400
highly unlikely that an LS engine would seize unless it was run w/o oil.
