Lexus Quality ! What Quality ?

HI, EVERYONE

JUST WANT TO LET YOU KNOW MY EXPERIENCE ABOUT THE LEXUS "QUALITY".

I HAD 2002 ES 300 ON WHICH I HAD TRANNY PROBLEMS ALL THE TIME.

I HAD TO CHANGE THE 4 TIRES, YES, YOU CAN READ 4. AT ONLY 18,000 MILES.

I CHANGE ALSO THE ROTORS AT 18,000 AND THEN AGAIN AT 24,000.

TRADE THE ES 300 AND GOT ANOTHER LEXUS (GUESS THE SALESMAN WAS GOOD) AND BOUGHT A RX 33O

BUT NOT REALLY BETTER. I CHANGED THE 4 TIRES AT ONLY 16,000 THIS TIME AND THE 4 ROTORS TOO!.

I JUST WONDER WHY THE PRESS IN GENERAL IS WRITING SO MANY GOOD REVIEWS REGARDING LEXUS RELIABILITY AND QUALITY. THEY CERTAINELY NEVER OWNED ONE !

LEXUS IS NOT BETTER THAN ANY OTHER BRAND.

I WILL NOT GET ANOTHER LEXUS.

THIS IS JUST TO LET PEOPLE KNOW. ;)

are you stepping on the brakes a little hard? lol. These are luxury cars, and ive never heard of changing rotors at 16K. Ive owned 3 lexus cars and i prolly only change the rotors once on only one car. My rx330 is at 42K and no problems with the rotors. My tires were changed at 30 thousand which are the average life for the goodyear eagles. It all depends on how you drive the cars.

Please don't type in all caps, its irritating.

Anyways, so you had some problems with tires and brakes on your Lexus. Lexus doesn't make tires, and can't control their treadwear. The Bridgestones, if you got them, are short lived, but the Michelins which are the other option are a very long lived tire, and most manufacturers put crappy tires on their cars.

As for the brakes, there was a TSB and Lexus gave every customer their first brake job for free basically. Lexus' policy is to *always* change the rotors if the pads need replacing, if they need to be changed or not so your rotors were probably fine.

These ars are heavy, and if you drive like a maniac (if you're burning through brakes and tires in 16k you must be) it will go through brakes quickly.

Personally, I think that if all you have to complain about is tire and brake wear, both of which are under the direct influence of how you drive and maintain the car, thats a testiment to the quality of these cars.

Tranny problems? You mean the acceleration lag? Thats not a problem, its a design characteristic.

I've owned mine for 55k miles, my dad has a 04 LS430 with about 60k and he had a 98 LS with 160k on it before that, these are very high quality automobiles and all we've had to replace are brakes and tires too.

My ES has had a couple things, but nothing that wasn't quickly and totally fixed by Lexus at no cost to me. Niether one of my dad's LS have ever needed anything outside of routine maintenance outside of an A/C compressor I think on his 98 around 60k miles. Not bad.

My reply to Rx330driver (1st post):

May be you are lucky with your car. I own this car, I'm not a liar.

By the way I'm not driving fast, if you really own yourself an RX 330 you should know that you can't drive it really sporty, specially in curves.

Regarding your useless 2nd post: One thing I'm pretty sure: you are a moron.

My reply to lexus411:

Yes I was mad, because the writer (if we can call him this way) had all wrong, specially about the ride, and also I don't like liar. His review was not fair and balanced!

Reliability was not the issue.

I joined the forum, to share my Lexus experience. But now, I realize that most of the owners (I wonder if they really are!) are too stupid and don't deserve to get advices. Too bad.

I will not waste my time and you won't hear from me anymore.

Do your own experience!

so i guess now im a moron and a liar who doesnt know how to judge my car. interesting. Im just saying, you could have slammed on the brakes a few times than nessessary. deal with it and move on. and about the bad review, he COULD be telling the truth, we dont know that because we dont own the car. Maybe if you owned the car, you could make a good evidence that he was a bad writer.

I have seen many of the what I call two footed drivers complain about brake and tire life. These are the people that drive with one foot on the gas and the other on the brake. They like to slow down by applying the brake before the gas is let off. I think you can see that this will lead to premature wearing of brakes and tires.

See you in two weeks MarcLex, you're banned for that period. If you can't discuss topics maturely without slinging childish insults and name-calling you don't belong here. Come back and converse like an adult, or get lost.
