gremio Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Whenever I hit on the brake (Park or Drive mode): - The Instrument Cluster lights go off - The "R" Reverse light on the Instrument Cluster lids on - The RPM kick up while on "D" (Car thinks it needs to go in reverse) !! I have unplugged the battery cable for resetting but that didn't help. It sounds like there is a short somewhere!! Please advice? Thanks, 91 LS400

Thanks, 91 LS400 Check the trunk wiring that runs along the trunk hinge. There is alot of info on this if you search. There is usually a short in the wiring in the early LS's and causes all kinds of different symptoms.
gremio Posted January 14, 2006 Author Posted January 14, 2006 Thanks, I found the link. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...=24822&hl=hinge
90LS400Lexus Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Yep, definitely sounds like the old "trunk wiring" woe. There should be a recall on this. What do you think? Good luck!
ko90ls Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 i got one for you, when i shift into R i get no dash light but the car is in reverse! N is fine but D is very intermitten; the car drives fine but the light will cut out sometimes. what ive found out is that when i play with the shifter the D light may come on but the R is done. think it could be in the back of the cluster?
gremio Posted January 16, 2006 Author Posted January 16, 2006 Problem found exactly as you guys described. Check the attached picture so you can see what went wrong: Many thanks to Lexus Owners Club members
akewlguy Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Seems my R - N and P work but no D or 2? So I will have to review the notes.
