flightlessbird Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I'm having a bit of a door crisis with my 92' ES 300. The driver door won't open from the inside or outside. Essentially it's shut and staying that way. I figured it was the rod clip witch I had had to replace on the passenger side not too long ago. I unfortunately found out this wasn't the case only after I aggressivly opened the door panel (wich is not easy on a shut door!) - All of the handle rods, lock rods, and clips are in place and functioning. It's the latch that actually holds the door closed that seems to be the problem. So here's where I'm at: moderate intereior damage, door still shut, at the end of my rope. If anyone has an idea to what the problem is, knows where I can get a door schematic, a latch diagram - or even a way to bypass the system and open the door so I can remove/replace the latch - I would greatly appreciate any help!
flightlessbird Posted October 7, 2005 Author Posted October 7, 2005 ....Is there no one who has run into this problem? I've asked a few of my mechanically inclined friends and no one seems to have an answer. Are there any Lexus mechanics out there??
SKperformance Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 The only thing you can do is reenginner the latch to open. Take apart your other door again and compare the assembly and see how you can duplicate the motion to release.
Toysrme Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 There are a billion junked ES's out their. Call a junkyard/salvage place & buy a door. -> Swap the parts over & resell it sto someone. That way it doesn't matter if you F up your leather, plastic or anything else.
