ptomko
I bought an '05 Nav unit from egusman for my '01 ES300. I installed it and it works great, but I still have to tap the reverse indicator for my rear camera and the Vehicle Speed sensor as well. egusman says I can tap both of these off of the combintion meter, and he sent a wiring diagram. But I am still confused. The diagram shows the speed sensor INSIDE the combination meter, and shows several wires going to the cruise control from this. Can someone help me out with exactly which colors of which wire on which harness to tap for these two? Also, if I need to take out the instrument cluster for this operation, can someone give me a step by step so I don't break it? Finally, I am looking for a double DIN '01 ES300 dash kit with the wood on it. egusman sent a universal kit, but I am hoping to maintain the wood if possible. I see only a single DIN unit for my model year on the web. I see some double DIN units for the GS300/400. Any idea if these would work? Thanks, Paul

Thanks, Paul ← I figured out the wires to use, so I thought I would share it with anyone else doing the nav install. The reverse wire can be found on the red wire with black stripe, number 14 on the 16 pin C8 connector (white) on the back of the instrument panel. The speed sense wire can be found on the violet wire with the white stripe, number 10 on the 10 pin C9 connector (grey), also on the back of the instrument panel. To get to the back of the instrument panel, take out the two phillips screws on the top underside of the plastic surround in front of the instrument panel glass. Remove the surround. Remove 4 phillips head screws securing the instrument panel. Remove the instrument panel. There are four harnesses on the instrument panel. The two your are interested in are the middle two. I have not so far had any luck finding a double DIN woodgrain replacement panel, but I did get a pretty good fit on the plastic universal trim peice after cutting it to size and a bit of fine sanding. If anyone finds a woodgrain one that will work, please let me know. Paul
