  1. Well, I got it off with a friend's help. Even though the parking brake was off, the parking brake shoe was still tight enough against the inside that it was trying to come off with the rotor, but being fixed in place at the hub, it was bending, which made it bind more. We had to adjust the gear at the bottom of the hub through the little peep hole, and it finally backed off enough to get it the hub off.
  2. I'm hoping for some help from other Es-300 owners. I have an '01 and I can't get the right rear rotor off. I need a new rotor because one of my old pads was worn down to the metal and scraped it all up. The other pad on the same side still had about 50% life on it, so probably a caliper or clog in the brake line. Anyway, I got the caliper off, and pulled on the rotor. it comes off about half an inch, but then it seems to catch on something springy. The parking brake is NOT engaged. I pulled the little rubber plug off of the rotor hub to see if there is anything I can see in there that locks it or something. But I don't see anything that I can do in there. I am thinking maybe the parking brake is out of adjustment and may be dragging, thus preventing the rotor from coming off. Does that seem likely? Where do I adjust that? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Paul
  3. I figured out the wires to use, so I thought I would share it with anyone else doing the nav install. The reverse wire can be found on the red wire with black stripe, number 14 on the 16 pin C8 connector (white) on the back of the instrument panel. The speed sense wire can be found on the violet wire with the white stripe, number 10 on the 10 pin C9 connector (grey), also on the back of the instrument panel. To get to the back of the instrument panel, take out the two phillips screws on the top underside of the plastic surround in front of the instrument panel glass. Remove the surround. Remove 4 phillips head screws securing the instrument panel. Remove the instrument panel. There are four harnesses on the instrument panel. The two your are interested in are the middle two. I have not so far had any luck finding a double DIN woodgrain replacement panel, but I did get a pretty good fit on the plastic universal trim peice after cutting it to size and a bit of fine sanding. If anyone finds a woodgrain one that will work, please let me know. Paul
  4. I bought an '05 Nav unit from egusman for my '01 ES300. I installed it and it works great, but I still have to tap the reverse indicator for my rear camera and the Vehicle Speed sensor as well. egusman says I can tap both of these off of the combintion meter, and he sent a wiring diagram. But I am still confused. The diagram shows the speed sensor INSIDE the combination meter, and shows several wires going to the cruise control from this. Can someone help me out with exactly which colors of which wire on which harness to tap for these two? Also, if I need to take out the instrument cluster for this operation, can someone give me a step by step so I don't break it? Finally, I am looking for a double DIN '01 ES300 dash kit with the wood on it. egusman sent a universal kit, but I am hoping to maintain the wood if possible. I see only a single DIN unit for my model year on the web. I see some double DIN units for the GS300/400. Any idea if these would work? Thanks, Paul
  5. No additional wiring needed, Full installation kit included, You will need the camera and additional wiring, No customization needed. Bothunits are plug and play the 05 one piece nav has the option for the rearview camera and satelite [ XM or SIRIUS ]. ← That's awesome. Do I just get this from a Lexus dealer, or do you have a contact? Thanks, Paul
  6. Thanks. I tried to send an e-mail, but the board tells me I am not allowed to use that feature. Maybe I have to be a gold member. A couple questions that come immediately to mind. 1.) For both of those options, is it as simple as plugging in the existing wiring harness, or is there additional wiring? 2.) Is there additional wiring for the reverse camera, if I went with the '05 option? 3.) Do I need to do customization of the radio panel, or are there peices I can purchase to match my '01 to the Nav units? Thanks, Paul
  7. I recently purchased an '01 ES300 and was wondering if it is possible to retrofit a Nav system from the later models into my car. I saw the fellow that had a '97 with the new Nav system, but my car has the "satellite" radio controls that are scattered around the panel area, whereas the '97 had all the controls on the radio unit. I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I'd appreciate any info anybody has on this subject.
